HEALTHY LYF: How Kelly Misa keeps it light

Kelly Misa has been a commercial and ramp model for over a decade now but there’s no stopping this 32-year old proud Filipina from doing more, while keeping it light. A columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer, a beauty editor of Look Magazine, the creative and content director of her own website kellymisa.com, and quite recently, the host of lifestyle show, Trending Now airing on ANC—Kelly is on top of her game.

But to do all these and more, Kelly accepts all the help she can get. For one, her husband, Carlos Fernandez, who has always been supportive of all her endeavors, is a reliable partner in running the household, adjusting to his wife’s frenetic schedule.

Kelly also relies on her trusted health supplements, such as C-Lium Fibre.  C-Lium is made from 100 percent fiber derived from the psyllium plant. She has been using this product for more than three years now, a habit she picked up from her father who, after a heart surgery, has become an advocate of healthy living. “It does wonders for my health,” she says of C-Lium, “and I personally feel the difference. Whenever I take it, I feel lighter, more energetic, less sluggish.”

Feeling light and energetic is the state of health she wants to be in day-in and day-out as she dives into her tasks head-on. One moment she is in a photo shoot determining the shade of lipstick a model needs to wear; next she is on a far-away island reporting its beauty in front of the camera. Aside from taking fiber supplementation courtesy of C-Lium, Kelly also does yoga and Pilates. “They help me to stay focused and be positive,” Kelly says. “I usually spend an hour to 90 minutes for yoga, which I consider as time for myself.”

Complementing her chosen physical routine is a healthy and well-balanced diet. Currently, she is on a specific calorie diet, wherein her food is delivered in batches (breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner) and features the ideal combination of protein and carbohydrates. Because of her busy schedule, this arrangement works for her. Usually, however, Kelly cooks her own meals. ”I try to stay away from fatty food,” she says. “It would be better for me to have more fruits and vegetables.”

While she doesn’t miss out on her leafy greens, Kelly takes C-Lium, usually in capsule form, to help make sure that she has enough fiber in her system. Aside from making her feel light by promoting good digestive health, Kelly also takes comfort in the fact that fiber helps decrease the absorption of bad cholesterol and slows down the absorption of glucose in the bloodstream, which in turn could decrease the risk for cardiovascular diseases and diabetes.

Now that she is in her early 30’s, Kelly is more cognizant of living healthy especially because “things are slowing down a bit.” Based on what her father went through, Kelly considers being rushed to the hospital a big deal. “Every time that happens I get so scared,” she says. “I realized, then, that health is really very important. “

For Kelly, there is no better time to invest on one’s health than now. “You really have to take care of your health,” she says. “If you have to do a little each day to avoid a huge hospital bill in the future, why not do it? An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. That applies to life. Everyone should really consider it and pursue a healthier lifestyle. Given my hectic schedule, I’m happy to have found a partner in C-Lium that helps me feel light and live more.”

C-Lium Fibre is made from 100% natural psyllium fiber and is a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber. It comes in husk powder and capsule variants and is available in leading drugstores and supermarkets nationwide.
