Blah Blah Blogs: Beyond Calendar Years

Lagpas ka na sa kalendaryo.

The most common thing you would hear from people to a person who just turned 32. Though I think someone will be using that line once they know it's my birthday. Yes I am now officially 32. I don't feel ashamed of the age since it is more of how I am living my life now that scrambling for achievements.

At this age, many people have been domesticated with their own families with children (plus maybe a pet or two). Some have reached a higher status in life compared to ten years ago. Some (or mostly) feel that their metabolism slowed down and is now feeling the weight on their waists like me.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Good Friday Revival

GOOD FRIDAY.

It seems like the most unlikely day of the year to be "good" as it was the day that the lord was crucified. It is also an unlikely day to write something about your own thoughts in the middle of the morning. But this is what we have blogs, something that can be voiced out in long essays and explanations that will definitely make others happy or mad. And this was also the inspiration of Blah Blah Blogs, to be that moment of eureka in the most unconventional sense.

What's Done is Done in the New Trailer of "Mission: Impossible - Fallout"

Everything has led to this. Paramount Pictures has just released the new international trailer for its highly anticipated action-thriller Mission: Impossible - Fallout starring Tom Cruise as superspy Ethan Hunt.

Check out the trailer below and watch Mission: Impossible - Fallout in Philippine cinemas July 25.

Blah Blah Blogs: T*ngina Tuesdays With LTFRB and Uber

For the most of us in the working class in Metro Manila, the importance of comfortable transportation is the only consolation from all the stress and madness of the city life. Ride sharing app like Uber and Grab came in like a prophet of good tidings to bring class and comfort to riders who would like to upgrade from being used to taxi life.

And with just a couple of years it became really popular among the middle class. Though the majority of workers have never tried or even heard of Uber, the drive of demand pushed industries like automotive sales, service and mobile data use on the rise as basics to set up a ride sharing franchise.

Though at first, there was a time that prices would surge as high as four times the fare, people would sacrifice additional amounts but can be assured of a comfortable ride even in traffic.

That is when the LTFRB came in.

Blah Blah Blogs: The Story Of Lola Pera

Lola is always game for wacky shots.
July is an unhealthy month for my family, my father FPJ Sr., died of a heart failure due to his complications on the day the Oakwood Mutiny started. We did not know about the events as we were morning for the loss of our Papa. Recently it also claimed the life of my maternal grandmother Felisa, who was born in 1931, in our province at La Union.

Deaths were also frequent this year with relatives like our Uncle Terry  who also died a few months ago. But for Lola's condition it came gradually and lasted months. We were hoping that she would reach her 100th birthday and claim the Centenarian prize of P100,000 because she was strong yet stubborn.

Blah Blah Blogs: Obligatory New Year Post 2017

Its another year to annoy you with my opinions and aspirations for the new year.

ladies and gents here is another New Year Obligatory Post of 2017.

2016 (the year that should not be named) has been a year wanted to be forgotten because of the changes and death  it has brought to everyone. It was the year of the great elections here in the Philippines and the United States. And with a twist of history, Duterte and Trump won. The Olympics happened in Rio and we got a silver ending our 20 year medal drought. Nations and boarders become more tense and World War 3 is becoming more of a reality.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: To Love & Hate Miriam

It has been a long time since I had my personal commentary again on politics, and the reason I came back here is to talk about the colorful life of the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago who just passed today. It was a sad day for Filipinos who had seen the spectrum of emotions and life events of the extraordinary senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Not so long ago, we still saw her as she went on the last biggest fight she had as one of the five presidentiables along side Binay, Poe, Duterte and Roxas. Despite having a lot of love and support Miriam lost, which added to her bid of the presidency which she ran in 1992, 1998, and this year. She was the underdog, no huge campaign money, machinery, and the likes. However, she did have a lot of volunteers and fans. These were the people who tirelessly campaigned for her in many ways and most of them in social media. She was a social media star not only of her political views and stands but also grounded with the wit and charisma of engaging the youth and young professionals.

Blah Blah Blogs: My 2016 Vote Goes To...

As election is near, I would like to voice out my personal choices for the upcoming elections. And it was a very toxic campaign season for all of us. From all of the news, debates, sorties, and interviews of the candidates, the choice was not an easy task for me, as well as others who was affected by the propaganda, jingles, and all things related to the elections.

But finally after giving much thought and discernment, I finally came up with my final decision for both president and vice president. At first I had three choices for president, Santiago, Duterte, and Poe. With the debates I have watched, I was able to justify their importance as a leader. All of them have good traits that I am looking for, but there is also issues that also needs to be addressed.

Blah Blah Blogs: Annual New Year Obligatory Post 2016

Well it has been a ______ year 2015.

Fill in the blanks and make it fun. This will be technically my first personal blog for the year 2016 and I would like to make this an annual obligatory blog post that will serve as my year ender report (for the heck of it) and the plans and visions for the year 2016.

For me the year 2015 is the year of great beginnings, I declared it the year of success and travels. I did had my first plane flight to Davao for Palarong Pambansa which is also my first time to visit Mindanao. I also won contest with one of the best (and practical) prize was the Acer Chromebook which I am now using for blogging and browsing. Also I also got the Asus ZenFone Laser which increased productivity with its functions and apps.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Iglesia Y Estado

We all know that recently, the INC (Iglesia Ni Cristo) is getting into a lot of controversy lately. First with the alleged abduction and illegal detention of ministers and family members linked to the Manalos, the founding family that started the religion back in 1914.

It was just last year that they celebrated their centenary with the unveiling of Ciudad De Victoria that boasts of the Philippine Arena (the largest indoor venue in the world), Philippine Stadium (world-class stadium built for athletic events), and other future plans that made a mark with history as well.

But things don't go well with INC on its 101st year, there was the controversy of the Korean contractors of the Philippines which is still unresolved. They also has a legal issue with the party of singer Chris Brown for failing to perform for the New Year's Eve concert, which left Chris to be quarantined in the country for several days. Now in a very rare event, INC members went to the streets to protest Justice Secretary Laila De Lima for her "meddling" with the internal problems of the church.

Blah Blah Blogs: USA Now Land of Equality

It has been a while since I've made a post for personal opinion in Blah Blah Blogs. It was quire timely that the hot topic of legalization of gay marriage in the United States via its Supreme Court made it official throughout the whole nation. Though there has been several states that made it legal prior to this decision. It has become a big buzz throughout the world with big brands and key personalities show support and celebration to the triumph of equality.

However, conservatives and religious sectors show dismay with the result and has condemned the ruling as very "immoral" and against the rule of nature. They are also linking that this is related to the demise of Sodom and Gomorrah. There are also warnings from them about other will follow suit like Pedophiles and "people who would also marry animals". But that would be very far as gay marriage is completely different from those concepts, like Pedophilia is a crime against minors while the other is bestiality. This again opened and divided believers on their stand and understanding of the ruling.

Blah Blah Blogs: 150 facts about Rizal (Part 2)

150 facts about Jose P. Rizal
(Part 2)

Sorry for the two year gap, but today being Rizal Day reminded me that I must not stop looking for amazing facts about Jose Rizal which has influenced and shaped the Philippines in every way. And due to insistent public demand were here to share more interesting facts!

    21. Rizal's favorite meal includes tuyo, champorado, hot chocolate, and fruits. Which at that time costs a peso.

    22. Rizal was thought of being the father of Adolf Hitler because of his trips to Europe, however it was cleared that Hitler was born 2 years after Rizal's departure from Europe.

    23. Rizal would be not considered as a "doctor" because there was no "board exam" for his  profession in the Philippines, but due to his studies and experience he earned his title and gained popularity

Blah Blah Blogs: 30 Years Worth Dying For

Aside from the massive rainfall that happened in most parts of Luzon, today also marks the 30th Anniversary of the death of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. On the tarmac of what is was called Manila International Airport now named after him after the 1986 revolution, Ninoy arrive to the country after his US exile and has decided to come back to the country despite death threats to him and his family.

30 years after, there was indeed a lot of changes, his son is the president of the Republic and so was his wife who led in the revolution, his nephew is now a senator and cosplayer (of him). Her daugters have their own family, and most of all her bunso Kris Aquino is the biggest (and most controversial) star in showbiz today. His face is part of the 500 bill (and with his wife on the new bill design in 2010) which is higher than the minimum wage yet still not enough to a family of five decent living for a day. He is named after streets, stadiums, avenues and even a town in Mindanao which is a 4th class muincipality. His killer(s) are still not given their final judgement with some also kept their secret to their own graves.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Anong Pake Mo Sa Kalayaan?

    Blah Blah Blogs: Paalam Pidol

    by Freely Abrigo
Indeed it really hurts my heart to see the passing of the King of Comedy. Dolphy or Rodolfo Vera Quizon has been part of so many generations with unparalleled comedy which gave him the title of "King of Comedy".  He made hundreds of movies, TV shows and countless fans that have gained him respect and love. As a kid of the 90s, my memories of him is his role as Kevin Cosme of Home Along the Riles.

Though I have not seen all of his film (mostly clips from his movies in the 50s), he is considered a "National Treasure"  for his contributions in the industry. Alongside FPJ, he shaped Philippine cinema with his roles from almost all profession and even gender. He is also the sole actor who was able to have a Darna movie.

Blah Blah Blogs: What The #PacBradley?!

I don't usually blog about boxing, but when I do there is something really wrong. When Manny was winning fights left and right, there is the common greeting of congratulations and some analysis from a regular spectator. Well, indeed the fight was shocking not in the fight itself but the unbelievable decision made by the judges on the final scorecards. Again, I am no expert however I am a keen observer, and at the fight, it was clear on my end that the fight belong to Manny. I also impressed with Bradley keeping it up to the 12th round which is an achievement for players. But when the announcement was made in favor of Bradley, I felt there is really wrong.

To be fair, I do check on boxing analysts sites and post about the fight, and as far as I have checked, they all are in favor for Pacman. It's not that he is Pinoy that I am rooting for him, but because he is really talented and strong. For the spirit of the sport and fairness, I would like to know the basis of which they gave those scores. It should not be an issue of race, color, religious views, business, smooth talk or personal opinion, just sticking to the rules of boxing.

BLAH BLAH BLOGS: Leap Year Day 2012

This post is unique because it only happens once in evry four years. It's again Leap Day 2012!

And this day is made more exciting as it also the (supposed to be) last Leap Day of the earth before the 'great reset' on December 21.  As this day happens only once in every four years, I  wanted a blog post dedicated for this day. This is also the first Blah Blah Blog entry for the year 2012.

As we all know one complete revolution around the sun takes 364 1/4 days which made the fourth year complete those quarter days. And with February as the month with the least number of days, it became a standard for calendars as it balances the gap so there won't be delays in the seasons.

And what makes this day interesting are celebrations made on this day like birthdays, anniversaries, events and all other occasions that won't have a date in the next 3 years. They would be celebrated earlier or on the first day of March. My best buddy actually will end his contract at work and at the dorm, sad but thanks to the connections of today, he won't be that far. And I think he will be back in just some time. I also had a look of green today, DLSU green is what I mean.

Today we celebrate this day, to do something we don;t usually do. For it is like life to live up to the fullest. This might not come again, if it does it would take some time. For perfect people, do something stupid, for underdogs, be the best and show the world you can.

Today is Leap Year Day, today we are all amazing, today we are epic!

Blah Blah Blogs BER edition/Rainy Days

SEASONS CHANGE BUT MY LOVE REMAINS THE SAME...

Due to the inconsistent weather pattern that is affecting not only our country but the whole world, the BER edition also had a sudden change of heart back to RAINY DAYS. Yes, its the rainy days again. To think that its alrady december and the expected December cold breeze should have arrived  since the last week of November.

But there was indeed a odd delay of the expected weather that we shoul be having here in the Philippines. It would be either be too hot or too wet. I won't be surprized if we will experienece hail or snow and cheeseburgers in the coming weeks.

Blah Blah Blogs Ber Edition: 11.11.11

    11.11.11
Another moment in time that only happens in a century and here we are again. Today is the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year of the 21st century. A moment that will happen in another 100 years.  I had  blog post in the past celebrating these rare occasions like 8-8-8 and 9-9-9 (10-10-10  was a busy day but memorable).

This day is also a memorable and busy day. With lot of events left and right. Probably because of the belief that this day is indeed lucky. I made this post just to make a note of this day. I don't really rely on luck but I love to talk about what will happen, will update this post with the things will do today.

I hope your day (11-11-11) is doing good!

Blah Blah Blogs Ber Edition: Undas 2011

WARNING THIS IS MY 666th POST AND RATED PG
(Patnubay at Gabay ng Magulang ang Kailangan sa mga batang manonood)

Another year passes and another undas has come again to remind us that we are not immortal, we die and turn into bones and dust.  This year was also sad with the passing of my grandmother (we call her Lola Haneng, her real name is Juana). And now the family lot just got new boarders. When I went there last Halloween, just because  to avoid the crowd, I saw in the gravestone that my grandfather is also buried there too. He died way back in 1974, so long before I was born but he is buried in Batangas, and we never had the chance to visit him during this season. It's really heartwarming despite the fact that they both already died yet they are together in eternity.
