Disney+ Sets May 24 Premiere Date For Highly Anticipated Original Series "American Born Chinese"

Today, Disney+ revealed the May 24 premiere date for the Disney+ Original series “American Born Chinese,” a genre-hopping action-comedy from Disney Branded Television series produced by 20th Television.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Gene Luen Yang, "American Born Chinese" tells the story of Jin Wang, an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new foreign student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

Tomb Raider - A New Start For A Classic Game

We know the game, we know who stared in the first adaptation, now we look into a whole new start of the video game series Tomb Raider. The role of Lara Croft is passed to Alicia Vikander (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and The Danish Girl) who is out to prove her worth now as a action star.

Although she has proved then their worth with her previous movies, many are still hesitant if she can live up to her predecessor. However we must note that this film is based on 2013 version of the video game. As it goes into a new direction and also digs deeper to the life of Lara Croft, it eventually shows its own charm to catch the viewer's attention.

We see a lot of characters here playing crucial roles in order to bring Lara to her goal. However I am quite disappointed with Daniel Wu's character which seems like a non-essential character to the story. He seems like a wallflower for the film which maybe wants to target the Chinese market. This is something like a waste of his talent due to story constraints.

Asian Superstar Daniel Wu Plays Lara Croft's Ally in "Tomb Raider"

After starring in recent box-office hits Warcraft and Geostorm, Chinese-American actor Daniel Wu returns to the screen as sailor Lu Ren, in Warner Bros. Pictures' new action-adventure Tomb Raider (in Philippine cinemas and IMAX on Thursday, March 8.)

In Tomb Raider, Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent. Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Leaving everything she knows behind, Lara goes in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.
