Chan Lim Exhibit Reveals Painting Which Took 35 Years!

The Chan Lim Family of Artists and Students has been going around the country in SM Malls to set up exhibits of their artworks which features chinese brush painting in different mediums like scrolls, plates, and fans. Now for this upcoming year of the dog, they also made another milestone for them, the revelation of the finished family painting which took 35 years in the making.

The family and their students makes a great impression with their exhibits all over the country. With generations of artistry passed from their patriarch to the grandchildren. From the traditional paint brush, the younger generation is expanding their artistic repertoire with digital media and audio-visual creations.

After experiencing how intricate it is to create Chinese Paintings, we got another chance to talk and experience the art and stories behind the work of the Chan Lim family and their students. Beyond the brushstrokes, there are actually more than a thousand moments and emotions in each of the art made on plates, scrolls and oil paintings.

Meeting he masters which came from the Chan Lim clan shows that talent runs in the family whatever career they would choose. The Chan Lim legacy continues with the third generation growing and shows full support with the family affair which also brings new students to their studio.

The Lunar New Year is upon us this 2017 with the year of the Fire Rooster and it is also a great time to look into Chinese culture and the colorful traditions that are celebrated and passed on to many generations. One of these is visual art through Chinese painting. 

The name that comes in mind with this art here in the Philippines is the Chan Lin Family which have gone a long way with their art and even opening their school to students who are interested in the art which has its own techniques and charm to its audience. With the patriarch, Jose Chan Lim celebrating his 80th year, it marks a milestone not only for the family but also for the larger family of artist.
