Celebrating the #WomenOfLRT1

Every year around the world, March 8 is celebrated as the International Women’s Day serving as a tribute, a platform, and a call for concrete, sustainable, and inclusive actions towards gender equality. At the height of the global pandemic, many women frontliners bravely took on the challenge of playing important roles in helping the country navigate through the new normal. Displaying resilience amidst unsettling conditions and determination to continue providing quality service despite tougher struggles, women have continuously shown power to lead and thrive even in a difficult situation.

Within the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), many female team members have proven their strength to overcome personal challenges and continue to excel in a rather male-dominated industry. In support of Philippine Commission on Women (PCW)’s #WomenMakeChange theme for 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration, here are some stories about the #WomenOfLRT1 to inspire and empower more women to be agents of change.

Steven Universe x Dove - Together for Empowerment!

Dove announces a two-year global partnership with Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe to educate young people on body confidence through the cartoon’s themes of inclusivity and empowerment, world and characters – going directly to them in a medium they know and love, something that has never been done before.

This pioneering collaboration comes from the Dove Self-Esteem Project which has been helping young people build self-esteem and body confidence through educational programmes since 2004. The project is based on the knowledge that over half of girls do not have high body confidence, leading them to avoid spending time with friends and family, put their health at risk and opt-out of important life events. The Dove Self-Esteem Project exists in 140 countries around the world is committed to reaching 40 million young people by 2020 through its existing educational programmes; and with the help of Steven Universe, will now reach 20 million more.

Ardy Abello Challenges You To Aim High!

We all have dreams and we we do what we can to reach them. We all have potentials, but sometimes it remains a potential. The power in each one has so much that  we can do as people of talent and influence. That is why we all need someone to give us all motivatiion!

We met him at an intimate media conference where we had lunch as well as a short but interesting talk  about ourselves. How we see ourselves and how we are as natural leaders. He conducted a short exercise to see for ourselves what kind of "animal" we are in terms of leadership. Upon answering the form, I found out that I am a Lion, strong and confontative. Though it may not be my obvious trait, but certain situations does lead me to bring out the Lion in me to invoke change and movement with people.
