George Clooney (“Gravity,” “Up in the Air”) stars in Columbia Pictures’ new film “Money Monster” as Lee Gates, the host of a financial news program who comes face-to-face with one of those regular guys who’s determined to hold someone accountable, by any means necessary.

“The world of money has gotten out of control,” warns Clooney.  “When things go wrong, you don’t actually understand what it is that went wrong – and the regular guy gets screwed.”

“Patty Fenn is the uber-producer. She can multi-task like nobody’s business – she is amazing,” says director Jodie Foster. “She controls the strings of this show and speaks in host Lee Gates’ ear to tell him what his next move is. Lee Gates can be lazy. He doesn’t learn his lines. He says whatever the heck he wants to say, and she’s there to make sure that the show runs smoothly. She knows how to handle this loose cannon.”

Stars of "Money Monster," "The Shallows" Take Cannes by Storm‏

The cast of two of Columbia Pictures’ most anticipated films of year – the hostage actioner “Money Monster” and shark thriller “The Shallows” – have taken the Cannes Film Festival by storm by sheer star power.

The Croissette sizzled with incredible glamour and star power as “Money Monster” stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and director Jodie Foster descended on Cannes for a photocall Thursday morning (May 12), followed by a red carpet appearance for the premiere. The film is an official selection for the festival’s Out of Competition programme.

Julia Roberts, for the very first time, ascended the film industry's most glamorous steps for the world premiere, while it was a homecoming for Jodie Foster who returned to Cannes, 40 years after her first visit for the classic “Taxi Driver.”

"Money Monster" Character Posters Trick the Eye‏

The new character posters for Columbia Pictures' new suspense thriller “Money Monster,” have just been released, and they are intresting to look at.

By cutting the characters' faces in unexpected ways, the one-sheets have conveyed the chaos and tension of the story, and at the same time, echoed the visual disturbance of analog-era TV sets. The movie is about a TV show held hostage by a viewer, after all.

Directed by Jodie Foster, the film stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell (“300: Rise of an Empire,” “Unbroken”). “Money Monster” has also been announced as an official selection of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival where it will premiere next month.

Money Monster" Named Official Selection, 69th Festival De Cannes‏

Money Monster, the upcoming film from TriStar Pictures starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts and directed by Jodie Foster, has been named an Official Selection – Out of Competition at the 69th Festival de Cannes, which will be held from May 11 – 22, 2016.

The gala presentation for Money Monster, which is Julia Roberts’ first film to be featured at the Festival, will take place on Thursday, May 12, at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.

Joining George Clooney in Disney's mystery adventure “Tomorrowland” are two child stars playing pivotal roles: Thomas Robinson who portrays the young version Clooney's character, Frank; and Rafey Cassidy who plays Athena.

As is typical in the industry, casting of the children’s parts presented its own challenges. “Young Frank was a little hard because we needed someone that looked like George and who could handle the physicality of the part because we wanted to do so much of it in camera,” says producer Jeffrey Chernov. “When we found Thomas it was like we struck gold.”

Commenting on his young costar, Hugh Laurie says, “Thomas Robinson gave Young Frank every possible ounce of energy and optimism and idealism that the part needed. For him the world is a huge adventure to be grasped and every day was a chance to discover something more, do something more, try something new. He was fearless and completely charming.”

George Clooney leads the cast of Disney's “Tomorrowland” as Frank Walker, once a dreamer and budding scientist, who isolates himself on the family farm, and living like a hermit surrounded by his unique inventions spawned from his growing sense of paranoia. Director Brad Bird and screenwriter Damon Lindelof had only one man in mind to play the film's lead character -- the disillusioned inventor Frank Walker. “From very early on we described Frank as George Clooney-esque,” recalls Lindelof, “and whenever we would talk about actors for Frank, the thinking was: who’s like Clooney? We crossed our fingers and did our best job of writing it, infusing Frank with a curmudgeonly humor and a heroic quality, all of which we think George embodies.
