Safeguard Continues Hand Hygiene Effort as Pilot Face-to-Face Learning Begins

Handwashing has been an integral habit to protect our health from the threats of germs and bacteria transmitted by touch, even before the pandemic. As the country continues to lift strict protocols, resume face-to-face classes, and slowly ease in reopening, ‘di pa rin pwede, ang pwede na! The demotivation caused by pandemic fatigue has caused Filipinos to settle with “pwede na” hand hygiene, even at time when it’s vital to maintain proper handwashing.

Procter & Gamble’s Safeguard reinforced the importance of proper handwashing with the SafeWash Movement last 2020. Now, the brand continues to ensure that Filipino families are safeguarded from the threats of germs and bacteria with every handwash.

Safeguard Furthers The #SafeWash Movement by Building Handwashing Hubs in Public Spaces

After Safeguard Philippines’ successful launch and run of the #SafeWash Movement, the brand continues with their commitment to strengthen the handwashing practice of Filipinos. The brand ensures that the knowledge on proper handwashing is met with work on ensuring there is hand hygiene access for Filipinos. With millions of Filipinos all over the country that still don’t have proper access to handwashing facilities, Safeguard partnered with Manila Water Foundation (MWF) to construct handwashing facilities all over Metro Manila; to add to the list of handwashing facilities they have built throughout the years.

Pumped Viral Rapper Fred D' Germ Leaves Filipinos Shocked with Newest Single on Filipino Dirty Habits

Safeguard responds to Fred D’ Germ in the most satisfying way possible.

Just days after the 2020 Philippines Handwashing Habits Survey* revealed that only 50% of Filipinos are  washing their hands properly, an online ‘influenza’ named Fred D’ Germ has been making rounds on social  media — promoting improper handwashing, or the lack thereof of proper safe wash habits.

Acting like an online ‘influenzaaa’, Fred D’ Germ’s online presence started out with him posting memes  within the context of improper handwashing. His social media accounts were seen leaving comments, and  trolling local celebrities and influencers like Anne Curtis, Jolina Magdangal, Karla Estrada, Melai  Cantiveros-Francisco, and Rufa Mae Quinto to not bother washing their hands and just wipe it off. Fred D’  Germ also hacked Safeguard Philippines’ social media accounts and posted a photo of him holding a  newspaper with the headline ’50% of Filipinos Don’t Know How to Wash Hands’, expressing approval of  this alarming survey result. Not only this, but his video introduction on Facebook where he can be seen  doing a dance trend popularized by Mimiyuuuh has already amassed a total of forty-five thousand reactions  with 2.6 million views.
