"A Quiet Place Part II": John Krasinski on the Genre-Defining, Unexpected New Chapter

In 2018, John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place turned silence into the building blocks of fright and forged from the horror-thriller genre a modern fable of family love, communication and survival. With its mix of relentless tension and layered storytelling about a tight-knit clan fending off an immensely destructive, sound-attuned alien force, the film became a startling hit and cultural phenomenon.

Now comes the story’s unnerving second chapter, which picks up right where the Abbott family left off. But A Quiet Place Part II also heads to new places as events hurtle past the fragile sanctuary of the “sand path” the Abbotts created in order to prevail in a reality where even a single footstep could be deadly—and into a world of infinite peril beyond. From the opening moments of the film, the family is on the run, beyond any semblance of security and searching for refuge in a town gone mad with fear. In a time when empathy and connection have nearly vanished from the world, the Abbotts strive not only to protect each other from the threat of sound but to find hope in the terrifying hush around them.

For most of us, silence can be a welcome break from our busy lifestyles. But in the case of the Abbott family, silence is survival. When creatures that hunt by sound threaten their lives, this family of four must learn to communicate with each other and fight for their lives while living in complete and utter silence; one wrong move and the life of a loved one is put at risk – because if they hear you, they hunt you!

A Quiet Place - Scary Silence That Makes You Mad In Fear

Preapare for ultimate silence.

Dystopian films may have been too saturated these days but there is still room for one more which was is shockingly silent.  A Quiet Place is a film by John Krasinski who also stars in the film along with his wife Emily Blunt. And it was shockingly quiet inside the cinema when I watched it 2 times.

Set in future where sound sensitive creatures caused rampage and the Abbot family strives to survive in their remote home. The setting may not be global like other films but it takes silence to a maddening level with sudden music scores that will induce a heart attack.

With silence also means less dialogues for the actors which will test their acting prowess in may situations. Millicent Simmonds, who plays the daughter,  is actually a deaf-mute actress who helped the cast in learning the American Sign Language. Despite less spoken words, it gives way to more action and suspense that the film actually delivered.

His First Action Role, John Krasinski Trains Hard for "13 Hours"

Far from his image in the popular series “The Office,” a buff, bearded John Krasinski leads the cast of Paramount Pictures' new action-thriller “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi,” directed by Michael Bay.

Krasinski plays Jack Silva, one of six members of a security team made up of elite ex-military operators who fought to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi from an attack of Islamist militants on Sept. 11, 2012 — the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The movie features Krasinski in his first leading action role, in what is the biggest departure yet from the affable cube dweller he portrayed on the long-running NBC series.

REEL DEAL: Big Miracle - Drew Barymore Q&A

DREW BARRYMORE PLAYS “RACHEL” IN KEN KWAPIS’ BIG MIRACLE

Drew Barrymore embodies versatility, having added to her status as one of the film business’ most popular leading ladies by becoming a successful producer and director.

In her new movie Big  Miracle she plays Greenpeace activist Rachel Kramer. Rachel is what you would call an extremist. She will go to any lengths to stop big oil companies from harming the environment, including showing up uninvited at meetings with a bull horn. When Rachel (reporter Adam's ex-girlfriend) finds out about a family of trapped gray whales, she turns all of her attention to getting them freed.

Born in Culver City, California, into a revered family of actors that includes, among many others, her grandfather John Barrymore and grand-uncle Lionel Barrymore, she started performing in commercials before her first birthday.  At age six, she was chosen by director (and godfather) Steven Spielberg to co-star as Gertie in his (at the time) small-scale feature E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.  Once the film was released to overall acclaim in 1982, the young actress had instantly become a movie star.

REEL DEAL: Big Miracle SPOTLIGHT

Based on the inspiring true story that captured the hearts of people across the world, Big Miracle is the rescue adventure Everybody Loves Whales tells the amazing tale of a small town news reporter (John Krasinski) and a Greenpeace volunteer (Drew Barrymore) who are joined by rival world superpowers to save a family of majestic gray whales trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle.

Local newsman Adam Carlson (Krasinski) can’t wait to escape the northern tip of Alaska for a bigger market.  But just when the story of his career breaks, the world comes chasing it, too.  With an oil tycoon, heads of state and hungry journalists descending upon the frigid outpost, the one who worries Adam the most is Rachel Kramer (Barrymore).  Not only is she an outspoken environmentalist, she’s also his ex-girlfriend.
