Two women, two different lives, victims of the same circumstance in the series “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin”

Two best friends who are victims of the same circumstance will become bitter rivals as they fight for what they believe they rightfully own in the upcoming ABS-CBN TV series “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin,” which will be available outside the Philippines via TFC starting August 17.

The series features a grand ensemble of a cast led by Jodi Sta. Maria and Iza Calzado with Sam Milby and the Philippines’ Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.

PH Consul General In SF Sends Off Filipino Crew Onboard Grand Princess Ship

Philippine Consul General in San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. sent off Filipino crew members onboard the Grand Princess cruise ship from San Francisco Port on Wednesday around 6 PM (Pacific Time) as the ship sailed off to Princess Cruises’ headquarters in Los Angeles.

Consul General Bensurto called one of the crew members on the phone to check on their situation. The crew member updated the Consul General of their situation, saying that all Filipino crew members are well and in good spirits, but are hoping they will be repatriated soon to the Philippines.

FilAm community leader chosen to address new lawyers of Northern California at admission ceremony

University of the Philippines Alumni Association San Francisco (UPAASF) President Sonia T. Delen, also Senior Vice President of Bank of America Merrill Lynch and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the State Bar of California, recently addressed the new lawyers who passed the California Bar Exam at the State Bar of California Admission Ceremony held at the Oakland Convention Center.  It was a great honor for the well-known Filipina American community leader to address the batch as a non-lawyer.

ABS-CBN Files $4M Lawsuit against Anthony Brown and 1700 Cuts Technology for Selling Pirated Set-top Boxes Online, Promoting them on Facebook

Leading Filipino media and entertainment company ABS-CBN has filed a complaint in U.S. Federal Court in the Southern District of Texas against Anthony Brown and 1700 Cuts Technology seeking damages in excess of $4 million for allegedly pirating ABS-CBN’s content and trademark infringement.  

The lawsuit alleges that Texas local resident Brown promoted and sold modified illegal set-top boxes via various Facebook.com pages operated by Brown and 1700 Cuts Technology that enabled buyers to access ABS-CBN’s live programming without paying the appropriate fees for such services. The Facebook pages used to promote the illegal set-top boxes included two personal profile pages and a business page for “Lifeforgreatness”.

Opportunities in co-production, distribution, and intellectual property exchange in the entertainment industry took center stage in an industry briefing organized recently by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) and the Philippine Embassy in Mexico City. 

Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Demetrio R. Tuason welcomed the audience of film producers and distributors from the Camara Nacional de la Industria Cinematografica (CANACINE), the Mexican film industry chamber.  He emphasized that the forum built upon the momentum generated when the Philippines was highlighted as Spotlight Country during the huge Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) in July this year.

ABS-CBN TFC gets exclusive broadcast rights to Pacquiao-Thurman fight in the Middle East and North Africa

After the wild and crazy NBA Free Agency and the amazing Women’s World Cup victory of the U.S. women’s soccer team, another event hogging international sports headlines this summer is the much anticipated “welterweight supremacy” fight between undefeated WBA super welterweight champion Keith Thurman and WBA regular welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world boxing champion in history.
