Globe reaches out to flood victims in Pampanga and Pangasinan through Libreng Tawag

Leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom sets up Libreng Tawag stations in Pampanga and Pangasinan which were severely affected by the “habagat” to assist residents who needed to assure their family and friends of their safety or to request for aid if necessary.

Libreng Tawag is now available from August 16-18, 8 am to 5 pm, at the 3rd floor of the Calasiao Municipal Hall in Pangasinan, and the San Matias Elementary School and San Vicente Municipal Gym in Sto. Tomas, Pampanga.  The said areas are being used as temporary evacuation sites for about 900 families.

Pangasinan and Pampanga are two of the areas in Luzon submerged in floodwaters as a result of heavy rains caused by the southwest monsoon over the weekend.

Through its Bangon Pinoy program, Globe provides help to Filipinos affected by disasters by providing communications facilities and relief operations.

Blah Blah Blogs BER Edition: Ondoy Year 2 and End of the World day II

ONDOY YEAR TWO

Another year has passed...

Now we again remember the Rainy day horror of Ondoy that happened two years ago. Coincidentally today another typhoon (Pedring) is pushing its way though Luzon. To the many victims, the visions are still fresh, I still remember how Sta Mesa Manila looked like a wasteland on the aftermath of Ondoy. We were indeed lucky to be in an elevated part that is spared from the rolling flood that affected millions.

Blah Blah Blogs: ONDOY Year One

Yes it been a year now, Many things had happened in my life that I could go back to the day Ondoy came. There was not  damage since we were at the 4th floor but after that day. There was also a series ofinfortunate events that happened to me and my family too. But for the people  directly affected by this event, their lives were changed forever.

Yes we say climate change, we said we are contributors, we are to blame... but was there anything done? For this year, the rain was not severe compared to last year. Are we waiting for another Ondoy to pass by and make another catastrophe? Did we really did measure to prevent this and make our cities safer place to live?

Just this year, Pakistan was also in peril as it experienced the same thing but on a much larger scale. They too are still in crisis, but after aid arrives and homes restored will we all become complacent of these things because we have experienced it?

To prepare is essential, and to have will is what most of us fail to do. I pray for the souls of those people who lost their lives and the other damages that led to many complicated things for the country. For now, after a year, rebuilding does not stop, it just another beginning and also a time if we did made a change to prevent this one to ever happen again.
