Members of LET GRAVITY ‘s musical paths have crossed some time ago, as school mates, ex-band mates, work colleagues, or through common friends. Yet they have initially gone on separate journeys. Guitarist Sam Santos, the band’s guitarist, is a professional songwriter who composed the teleserye theme song “Alipin”, and a host of other telenovela themes. His brother, bassist Donne Santos, was the founding member of indie-band ‘Goodbye Tracy’, and is a former member of Ramchavesband-formerly Sutil. Acoustic and electric fingerstyle guitarist, Rigil Borromeo and drummer Alden Acosta were UST schoolmates, ex-members of the band “happydaysahead”; the latter was also a former member of pop-rock outfit “Callalily”. The newest member of the band is lead vocalist Ram Chaves, who once had his own band called ‘Ramchavesband’ and formerly a runner up in the GMA 7 Pinoy Idol season 1 competition.
And with the formation of the band, they were able to create songs of their own along with doing their own covers of popular songs. Their debut album Defy is the perfect word to describe their music, a smooth jazzy feel which reflects the 90's to early 2000s musical style of songs which is loved by the public and became classics of that era.
Given their potential as a soulful band many of us love, we look forward that their songs will also take centerstage with collaborations for movie and TV. Also their passion to push for new music is also a good move for OPM to diversify despite the "cover"-saturated local music industry.
LET GRAVITY’s new album entitled “Defy” is now available on Spotify, Amazon, Deezer and Itunes. CDS available soon in Odyssey Music Store nationwide. Digitally distributed by Star Music. Follow Let Gravity on their social media accounts: Facebook.com/LetGravity ; Instagram and Twitter - @letgravity
