After almost two years of rest from showbiz, Empress returns to television this Saturday (Feb 4) in the hit ABS-CBN legal drama “Ipaglaban Mo.”
“I’m happy, because I missed acting in front of the camera. I also missed waking up early in the morning, reading scripts, and staying up late with the staff and cast,” Empress explained. “At first, I felt nervous because I didn’t know if I could still act the way I did before I took a break, but I am glad it came out naturally.”
Empress plays the role of Lenny, the foster mother of Lelet (Rhed Bustamante) and the wife of Jess (RK Bagatsing). Jess uses violence to discipline Lelet and even burns her with a flat iron out of anger. What are the possible consequences of Jess’ actions? Will Lenny file a case against her husband?
When asked if portraying mother roles is easier now, Empress said, “I can definitely relate to mothers now, being a mom myself. The whole time when we were shooting, I thought about my daughter Athalia to motivate me.”
Joining Empress in the cast are Tetchie Bayani and Edric Ulang.
