Dew Day has been a tradition with Mountain Dew as it celebrates the excitement and adventure brought to us by different kinds of sports like skateboarding, biking etc. But it also acknowledges the growing influence of eSports with today's lifestyle which is also exciting, thrilling, and also requires skills, talent, and practice.For this year's celebration, they have now included games to be part of their annual event that brings together gamers of the online and offline world to gather together with a space they can play with and also have fun while enjoying the company of Mountain Dew's celebrities and influencers.
The event held at the activity center of Market! Market! is the perfect venue with an huge area to set up stations of play and performance. They have also partnered with Mineski Gaming Cafe as part of the road to SEA Games happening this year.
To start off the event, pro and celebrity gamers showed off their skills for the fans who attended the event. There were live matches played by crowd favorites Ako si Dogie, Wil Dasovich, Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao. Event attendees were also treated to live team matches, with Team Bren Esports duking it out with Team Cignal Ultra, and PB ESports AK battling PB ESports Doujin at the main stage area.
There are also gaming stations within the area with Tekken Free Play Zone and Nintendo Switch Zone open to be played by the audience. Both games were lined up by gamers who love to have a game or two during the event which made it more fun. And for those who were especially daring took to the wall climbing zone that had an augmented reality twist.
One of the highlights was a Tekken battle with celebrities Bret Jackson, James Reid, and Nadine Lustre who professed their love playing video games. The first battle was between James and Bret which James emerged victorious. The crowd went wild as the final battle was against his girlfriend Nadine who chose Xiaoyu as her character. James on the other hand chose Josie Rizal as his fighter.
The game was intense with both showed serious game on the fights. In the end, it was a thrilling victory for Nadine as she beats James with her prowess. It was really fun to see them fight (on Tekken) and it was cool moment for the couple that shows they do love doing fun things beyond their showbiz life.To cap off the event, there was a performance by Carless Music Manila (which is also made up by James, Nadine, and Bret) that brought their beats to the audience and set them into a party mood. As Dew Day ends it day, it opens anther chapter with the inclusion of eSports to their roster of activities which will definitely excite the youth and brings more options and gamers to the table.
