A New Era of EV Ownership in the Philippines: VinFast Makes Owning an EV Easier for Filipinos with New Incentives and Battery Subscription Program

VinFast Philippines is making a stronger push to bring electric vehicles (EVs) closer to everyday Filipino drivers, starting with a new set of incentives designed to lower both the cost and complexity of going electric. From free charging at V-Green stations until May 1, 2027, to flexible sales support for the VF 7 Plus and VF 9 Plus, the brand is reinforcing its message that EV ownership should not feel out of reach or overly complicated.

For buyers of the VF 7 Plus and VF 9 Plus, VinFast is offering two support options depending on what matters most. Customers who want immediate savings can choose a straight price discount: ₱109,000 off for the VF 7 Plus and ₱270,000 off for the VF 9 Plus. Those who prefer lower monthly ownership costs can opt for battery subscription discounts instead. This brings the VF 7 Plus’ monthly battery subscription down from ₱3,350 to ₱1,850, while for the VF 9 Plus, the ₱3,840 monthly battery subscription fee is fully covered, making it effectively free. On top of this, VinFast is also offering complimentary accessories on select models, including a wall charger, floor mats, and a tire repair kit, helping reduce the extra expenses that usually come with buying a new car.

These incentives arrive at a time when interest in electric vehicles is steadily growing in the Philippines, but many drivers remain cautious. Beyond charging and technology, practical questions still dominate the conversation: How much does it really cost to own an EV? How long will the battery last? What happens if it degrades? And will the vehicle still hold its value years down the line?

This kind of “EV anxiety” goes beyond learning a new type of vehicle. At its core, it is about financial confidence and whether an electric car fits into real-world budgets, everyday use, and long-term ownership plans, especially for first-time EV owners, families planning to keep their cars for many years, or drivers who rack up serious mileage.

Across the industry, automakers are beginning to respond to these concerns with new ownership models and support systems designed to make the switch to electric feel less risky and more realistic. For VinFast, this response goes beyond short-term incentives and into a broader rethink of how EV ownership itself should work.

Rethinking EV ownership, starting with the battery

In markets like Vietnam, VinFast introduced a battery subscription model to lower the barrier to EV ownership and reduce long-term uncertainty. In the Philippines, the program has been refined further to reflect local priorities: cost sensitivity, insurance considerations, and the need for predictable expenses.

Under VinFast Philippines’ Battery Subscription Program, customers purchase the vehicle itself, but subscribe to the battery separately through a monthly fee. The battery remains owned by VinFast, while drivers simply pay for its use and performance.

In practical terms, this means:

  1. You buy the car at a lower upfront price.
  2. You pay a fixed monthly subscription for the battery.
  3. VinFast takes care of battery health, maintenance, and replacement when its condition drops below 70% state of health (SOH).

According to VinFast’s local operational guidelines, separating the battery from the vehicle can reduce the car’s suggested retail price by around 20%, making EV ownership more accessible from day one. The program also covers battery replacement due to degradation, manufacturing defects, or even accident-related damage, removing one of the biggest long-term financial unknowns for EV owners.

In this way, the Battery Subscription Program works hand in hand with VinFast’s broader ownership initiatives, including the Residual Value Guarantee (RVG), which focuses on protecting a vehicle’s value later in its life, addressing both the cost of getting into an EV and the confidence to keep and upgrade it over time.

Beyond changing how ownership works, VinFast is also reinforcing this shift with market-facing support. These include free charging at V-Green stations, subscription fee support on select models, and complimentary accessories, all of which further reduce the friction of going electric and make the transition easier in real-world terms.

Why this matters for Filipino drivers

For many consumers, the battery represents both the heart of an EV and its biggest source of worry. Over time, heavy usage, frequent charging, and long-distance driving can affect battery performance. With traditional ownership, this decline is usually not covered under standard warranties unless special conditions apply.

With a subscription model, that risk shifts away from the driver. Ownership costs become more predictable, insurance premiums can be lower since the battery is excluded from the vehicle price, and major battery-related expenses are no longer a personal liability.

When combined with value-protection programs like RVG and near-term ownership support such as charging and subscription incentives, this creates a more cohesive ownership experience—one that reduces uncertainty both during everyday use and over the long term.

This setup can be especially appealing to ride-hailing and TNVS drivers, fleet and commercial vehicle operators, high-mileage users, and customers planning to keep their vehicles for many years. For these groups, the combination of lower upfront cost and long-term peace of mind can make EV ownership far more practical, not just aspirational.

Flexibility remains part of the choice

Importantly, battery subscription is not mandatory. VinFast Philippines continues to offer traditional ownership options, allowing customers to decide what best suits their driving habits, budget, and lifestyle.

Some may prefer full ownership. Others may value the flexibility of spreading costs over time and avoiding future battery concerns altogether. The point is choice. Something that hasn’t always been common in the EV space.

Together with options like RVG and time-bound ownership incentives, this reinforces VinFast’s approach of giving Filipino consumers more control over their full ownership journey, from purchase to long-term use and future upgrades.

Redefining EV Ownership for Everyday Filipino Life

By reworking a model first introduced in Vietnam and tailoring it to local needs, VinFast is positioning EV ownership as something more approachable, more flexible, and ultimately more realistic for daily life. Rather than treating electric vehicles as a niche or premium shift, this approach reframes them as a practical choice for how Filipinos actually drive, budget, and plan ahead.

Seen together, VinFast’s current incentives, such as free charging, flexible support for the VF 7 Plus and VF 9 Plus, and complimentary accessories, work alongside the Battery Subscription Program and the Residual Value Guarantee to address both sides of the ownership equation: the cost and confidence to get into an EV today, and the reassurance of managing it over the long term.

For drivers still weighing the switch to electric, this combination could make all the difference. It shifts the conversation away from uncertainty and toward everyday usability, making EV ownership feel less like a leap of faith and more like a practical, manageable decision that fits into real routines, real budgets, and plans for the years ahead.
