Hypertension, most commonly known as High Blood Pressure, is a chronic medical condition wherein the blood pressure is elevated. Some victims are unaware of its lurking presence in their system as their bodies show no clear symptoms of hypertension. If it remains unknown and untreated, it may damage the arteries or some vital organs. The slow and unnoticeable signs of hypertension make it the “silent but dangerous killer.”
According to the Department of Health, one in every four Filipino adults suffers from hypertension.[1] The most common victims of the disease are those who have heavy salt intake from snacks and processed food. This puts the heart and kidney at risk for diseases, as well as trigger diabetes.
As the number of hypertensive Filipinos rise every day, Novartis Care Philippines is more eager to push their campaign to prevent and control hypertension.
