There’s new blood to spill. Meet the new cast of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” led by Jonah Hauer King

Old horrors meet a brand new set of characters in I Know What You Did Last Summer, the continuation of the hit 1997 slasher film of the same name. Rising stars portray the young group of people dealing with the horrific consequences of their actions, and for director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the chemistry of the cast feels genuine. “The cast chemistry really leaps off the screen,” she continues. “It was like lightning in a bottle. It just was there, and it was amazing.”

Fantastic Four First Steps - A New Leap for Marvel

One of the most anticipated MCU movies in recent years, Fantastic Four First Steps had high expectations being called Marvel’s first family. Though there are also fears that it will receive bad reviews like its predecessors, this new adaptation of Fantastic Four got me excited for the new phase of the MCU.

With so many adaptations and universes, finally Marvel has found the sweet spot for the new Fantastic Four First Steps. Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic has now the dilemma of being a hero and father. Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman is indeed a mother in this movie and also very empowered because of this, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm is elevated to step up as a hero we never expected him to be. And Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing has charisma and talent that also comes as a surprise.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return as the 1997 Southport Massacre survivors Julie James and Ray Bronson in I Know What You Did Last Summer

The highly anticipated follow-up to the iconic 1997 slasher film, I Know What You Did Last Summer, sees the return of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., back in the fray with their career-launching roles of Julie James and Ray Bronson.

For director and writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, having the two original actors was critical to the next installment of the franchise. “Working with Freddie and Jen was amazing,” says Robinson. “It was important to me to make sure that both of their stories felt like a continuation. We wanted to know, how would something like this affect them 27 years later? Who would they become, and how will that inform how they advise and help this younger group?”

We don’t always take road trips to escape. Sometimes, we take them to feel more present, to discover hidden gems, and to make unforgettable memories. As writer Angela N. Blount once said, “Sometimes the most scenic roads in life are the detours you didn’t mean to take.”

In rural Philippines, where every curve in the road may reveal a mountain, a scenic cliff or a coastline, road trips are more than a way to travel, they’re a chance to reconnect with nature, with friends, or even with yourself.  This is the kind of thrill that only a road trip can offer — an adventure that will stay with you for a long time.

And with PLDT Home’s One Mega Giveaway (OMG) promo, your next adventure could come with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner, ₱1 million in cash, or free fiber internet for life.

Before we tell you how, let’s talk about where to go. Here are four road trips from Manila that are scenic, soul-stirring, and full of moments that you’ll never forget.

Slashers are so back. 90s nostalgia meets modern horror in “I Know What You Did Last Summer”

The original I Know What You Did Last Summer is one of the most iconic slasher films in cinema, and for producer Neal H. Moritz, it was time to bring the horror to a new generation of fans. “Horror fans have always had a soft spot for this franchise, and we felt there was still something here – a great central idea that could resonate with a new generation.

We came at the new film with passion for the material, a willingness to evolve the story, and a real respect for the fans who still talk about the original,” Moritz, who also produced the original 1997 film, says.

Sally Hawkins, Billy Barratt, and Sora Wong are a fractured family in the A24 horror film “Bring Her Back”

Arriving in PH cinemas July 16, rated R-16 with no cuts

Following the success of their debut, Talk to Me, directors Danny and Michael Philippou took a turn on how to approach their latest horror film Bring Her Back. “Talk to Me feels like a party horror film, but this film is more character-driven,” Danny says. “We liked the challenge of a contained story about these three characters, focusing on their relationships.”

As they lean heavily into the characters of Bring Her Back, they couldn’t have thought of anyone better to be Laura, the character who drives the mysterious narrative of the film, than Academy Award-nominated actress Sally Hawkins. “Seeing all these different characters that she [Hawkins] would build big backstories for, that was so exciting to me, the idea of someone bringing that much care to her characters,” Danny says. “Laura is written almost in a more outwardly confident way, but Sally brought this depth to it and portrayed it in a different, more interesting way. Laura struggles with what she’s doing in the film, and that is what humanizes her, I think,” adds Michael.

Get Covered Instantly: Palawan ProtekTODO's ProtekSure Now Available via PalawanPay Bill Pay

Palawan ProtekTODO, the microinsurance arm of trusted financial services provider Palawan Group of Companies, has officially launched ProtekSure, an embedded insurance feature within the PalawanPay app that provides users with instant, affordable, and accessible accident coverage. ProtekSure offers a simple yet powerful solution, allowing users to secure personal accident insurance when they pay bills via the PalawanPay app.

Unfortunately, many Filipinos still hold sentiments like, “Mahal naman ang insurance,” or “Hindi para sa’kin ’yan, marami pa akong kailangang unahin.” As a result, many Filipinos shy away from getting insurance policies. 2025 data from Statista shows that the Philippines has an underdeveloped insurance market with a penetration rate of less than two percent. Palawan ProtekTODO aims to help address this gap by making insurance affordable, relevant, and accessible—embedding low-cost, high-value protection into a platform that users already trust and use daily.

Choi Bo Min’s “Nakaraang Buhay” Is Part Of Beauty Empire OST

Filipinos enjoy it when a foreigner sings a Tagalog song — especially when it’s done well. That is definitely the case with Korean star Choi Bo Min, who just released his debut single under Universal Records last July 4. It is a full-Filipino song entitled “Nakaraang Buhay” — an original song written by Luke April, making it more impressive since it is not just a cover of an old hit.

The song is a heartfelt declaration of unwavering love and emotional commitment. It speaks about a love that endures despite distance, pain, or hardship—one rooted in destiny and past lives. “Wala namang mawawala't magbabago. Nakatakda nang ako at ikaw habang buhay na magkaisa. Tadhana'y tatanda kasama ka. Tukso ma'y dadagsa, kumapit ka. Tayo'y pinagtagpo na sa nakaraang Buhay.”

While Bo Min does a great job singing in Filipino, one will most probably know that it is a foreigner who is singing “Nakaraang Buhay” — which is definitely not a bad thing. In fact, the way that Bo Min pronounces the words is quite charming. There is just something heartwarming about a foreigner singing a song in Filipino, especially when they do a good job.

In a time when stories of women loving women were rarely told, Yoshiya wrote them into existence, offering narratives that still feel quietly revolutionary.

This revival is told in the tradition of how silent films once were—through the voice of a benshi. Nanako Yamauchi, one of only around 20 active benshi remaining in Japan, will perform a live narration that blends storytelling, performance, and emotion, bringing this nearly forgotten film vividly to life.

Netflix Set to Adapt ‘Solo Leveling’ Into Korean Live-Action Series Starring Byeon Woo-seok

Netflix has confirmed the production of a Korean live-action series adaptation for Solo Leveling, with fan-favorite actor Byeon Woo-seok cast as the lead. Originating as a Korean web novel and expanding into a webtoon, anime series, and video game, this beloved IP has become a global phenomenon, now coming to life on Netflix.

Solo Leveling follows Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank Hunter — the lowest tier — who gains extraordinary abilities after a near-death experience. As he levels up, he becomes humanity’s unexpected hope, defending against monstrous threats emerging from beyond the mysterious Gates.

Since its debut on KakaoPage, Solo Leveling has firmly held its place as its No. 1 web novel and webtoon, garnering a staggering 14.3 billion cumulative views worldwide. Its anime adaptation made history as the first Korean animation to sweep nine major categories at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, Best Action and Best Character. The upcoming live-action series adaptation promises to feature vivid characters, dynamic action sequences, and exhilarating quests, brought to life by a world-class global VFX team. The series will also introduce viewers to fantastical dungeons and uniquely powerful monsters, setting a new standard for live-action adaptations.

Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. July 2 - Jurassic World Rebirth (Universal Pictures)

Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend

Directed by: Gareth Edwards

Five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind. Scarlett Johansson plays skilled covert operations expert Zora Bennett, contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. When Zora’s operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, they all find themselves stranded on a forbidden island that had once housed an undisclosed research facility for Jurassic Park. There, in a terrain populated by dinosaurs of vastly different species, they come face-to-face with a sinister, shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.

Superman (2025) - Time To Fly And Look Up

DC Studios’ Superman directed by James Gunn has the honor and pressure of being the first major film in the DC Studio Cinematic Universe. Having Superman as the first of the many DC reboots, the expectations were mixed due to the hit or miss success of the previous movies of the DCEU. Now we have a new Superman with David Corenswet which we also attended the world tour that kicked off here in Manila.

The hype was indeed there, though the question still is how the public will feel with this new iteration of the character that has become so complex, yet can be molded into a masterpiece when done right. We were again introduced to new faces of Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and more. Plus there is also a sample of a future Justice League with Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mister Terrific.

The red trunks and the bright costumes are the least of my concerns in the movie as the story and legacy matters most to make this film iconic and retain in the hearts and minds of its viewers. Like Gunn’s previous works, It has his signature style of comedy along with the entertaining action scenes, and a scene that tries to be that iconic part of the movie.
