REEL DEAL: Barber's Tales (Mga Kwentong Barbero) Finally Will Be Shown In The Philippines!

Eugene Domingo goes into another challenging role with the latest movie from Jun Lana, Barber's Tales (Mga Kwentong Barbero) which after winning awards abroad will finally be shown here in the Philippines on August 2014. What is special about this film? Well there is indeed a long list of reasons which have earned the recognition of world.

The movie has participated in international film festivals namely 2013 Tokyo International Film Festival, 2013 Abu Dhabi Film Festival, 2014 Hong Kong International Film Festival, 2014 Undine Far East International Film Festival, and the 2014 Madrid International Film Festival. It also garnerd awards like 2013 Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum Best HAF Project, ARRI Award, Technicolor Award, Catapoolt Award, and 2014 Undine International Film Festival Audience Choice Crystal Mulberry Prize, and 2014 Madrid International Film Festival Nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Producer and Best Actress. Eugene also won Best Actress for the 2013 Tokyo International Film Festival.

The story is also another interesting take during the Martial Law regime as she plays the newly widowed Marilou who inherits the town’s only barbershop from her husband — a business that has been passed down by generations of men in her husband’s family. With no other means of support, she musters the courage to run the barbershop. Despite the skills she gained from years of observation and assisting her husband, as a female barber she fails to attract any customers. Nevertheless, things take an unexpected turn when Marilou discovers what she is truly made of -- in the midst of mockery from men, and the support of an unexpected circle of sisters.

There are also scenes that catches the attention with scenes unlikely heard during the that period like the life of the rural communities who got caught in the fight against the rebels. There is also a kissing/makeout scene of Eugene and Iza Calzado at one part of the movie which have never seen both of them have done in any of their films.

Barber's Tales (Mga Kwentong Barbero) stars Eugene Domingo, Daniel Fernando, Eddie Garcia, Sue Prado, Iza Calzado, Gladys Reyes, Shamaine Buencamino, Noni Buencamino, and Nicco Manalo
