Global Pinoy Center opens at SM City San Lazaro

I am currently the foursquare mayor of five Global Pinoy Centers namely SM Megamall, SM North EDSA, SM Sta Mesa, SM Manila and SM Mall of Asia. The Global Pinoy Center (GPC) is indeed a great place for OFW and their dependents like me. There is one GPC in the SM Supermalls in the country and now opening its newest branch in SM City San Lazaro.

SM San Lazaro is known to be the community mall of the Sampaloc-Blumentrit Area which is the landmark and favorite hangout place by many. It opens its Global Pinoy Center with the a grand celebration of Pinoy Culture and a toast to the succesful Pinoys who had made their mark internationally. And they are:

Globe Business reaffirms commitment to make business better for Filipino entrepreneurs

As the year comes to a close, Globe Business is doubling its efforts to provide Filipino entrepreneurs operating small and medium businesses or SMBs a complete range of solutions that can help maximize their business operations at lesser cost.

It’s time for us to use hindsight in assessing our performance and for renewing our commitment to make business better for SMBs,” said Manny Escosa, Globe Business Marketing Head for Small and Medium Business Segments.

Escosa adds that 2012 has been a good year for Globe Business as Filipino entrepreneurs have become more aware of the advantages that information technology can bring to their businesses.

“Information and telecoms technology function as an equalizer for SMBs who compete with much larger businesses. For example, a Filipino entrepreneurs would no longer have to set up an office or distribution site overseas to reach Filipinos living overseas.

Avida Land launches gift-giving Facebook app for OFWs

GIFT-GIVING is in the Filipino DNA. Proof of this are the multitude of gifts that get exchanged every Christmas season between family members, friends, co-workers, and classmates. No matter how grand or simple the gift, it’s really the thought and caring behind that gift that matters most to us.

In this spirit of gift-giving and sharing, Avida Land, one of the Philippines’ most trusted property developers, is spreading the holiday cheer among our OFWs and their families through an online gifts promo application on its Facebook page, titled, “Avida Pasalubong Project for the Global Pinoy,” which can be accessed at  http://apps.facebook.com/avida-pasalubong/.

OFWs now have the chance to give free gifts to their families in the Philippines. All they have to do is go to the Avida Facebook page and use the Facebook app especially created for the gift-giving promo.

2nd Skills-Up Training for OFWs Launched By Villar Foundation

OFWs around the world still contribute an important  portion of the GDP of the country however there is a number of them that are abused, underpaid and sent back with empty handed. Though many of them find it hard to find work locally and unable to start a business. The Villar Foundation, led by its Managing Director Cynthia Villar, launched the 2nd OFW Skills-up Training recently in Masibay, Las Piñas.

With the aim of helping repatriated OFWs and their families who are having difficulty in finding employment, the program provides necessary skills training, particularly commercial cooking and housekeeping.

Villar Foundation Extend Help to Repatriated OFWs

With optimistic views on the economy of the Philippines, and the financial crisis in some European countries like Greece and Spain, many OFWs are being repatriated back to the country. However, they would usually come home empty handed due to the cost of going back, and even some of them were victims of abuse from their employers.

Its great to hear NGOs like the Villar Foundation to help our fellow Pinoy to come back home safe and sound. But it does not only end there because they would also extend an additional assistance in the form of livelihood package to help them start with small yet practical businesses.

Villar steps up OFW support with Liveluihood Assistance to seven Needy OFWs extended livelihood grants

Who is the Modern Day Filipino Hero?

He’s no Andres Bonifacio nor is he a Jose Rizal. But even without a sword, a gun or a pen, his sacrifice for the country is no less valiant. After all, he carries the aspirations of his family and the country’s economic security on his back.

Aptly called as the modern day hero, these 11 million overseas Filipino workers have earned the trust and admiration of employers all over the world. Something we as their countrymen should all be proud of. With this reason, the Commission of Filipinos Overseas, Duty Free Philippines, and Kraft Asia pay tribute to the Global Pinoys that have showed excellence not only in their careers, but also in the initiatives to help their fellowmen in the country, through the Thank You Global Pinoy Awards.

The Thank You Global Pinoy Awards is an initiative to search for the most outstanding global Filipino workers who deserve the gratitude not only of their loved ones; but also of the nation as a whole. It was primarily led by the Commission of Filipinos Overseas, the government agency tasked to promote and uphold the interests of Filipino emigrants and permanent residents abroad. The online nominations ran from October 2011 to February 2012, and 10 outstanding overseas Filipino workers have been chosen and will be announced during the Awards Night on March 15, 2012.

We Say THANK YOU to the Global Pinoys!

There are almost 10 million Pinoy migrant workers that are spread out in the world. And one of them is my sister Maricor Jusay. They are considered the 'new heroes' of this  era as they contributed remittances that help raise our GDP and the economy itself. Though its hard working far from loved ones they  also long for happiness and appreciation on what they do.
Toblerone recently launched  Thank You Global Pinoy (TYGP) as a way of extending the Thank You Day campaign to Overseas Filipinos, thanking them for the sacrifices and hard work that they do for their families and for the country.
