Col. Hansel Marantan's Legeacy Told With Docu-drama “SA LIKOD NG TSAPA"

Many know Police Colonel Hansel Marantan through the news with various police operation in with some are controversial ones. He has also gone through a lot such as being injured, accused and imprisoned after mishaps in an operation. Despite this, he still continues to serve as a policeman, true to his vocation.

Given his colorful history and story, caught the attention of former journalist Editha Z. Caduaya, and saw an opportunity to showcase his life into a docu-drama titled "Sa Likod ng Tsapa." And being a police story film, it will filled with drama, action, and tension that will reflect the intense moments in his life.

PCol. Marantan is currently the Acting Director of the Police Peace Development Center (PPDC), previously led the CIDG–NCR, and was involved in high-profile and controversial assignments, including the Atimonan Quezon shootout (2013), the Valle Verde, the Congressman Teves and KOJC operations, among others.

In a recent media conference for the film features PCol. Hansel M. Marantan, Ms. Editha Z. Caduaya, Lt. Col. Stefanio Andrenicus Rabino (who portrays the younger Marantan in the film), and Col. Mario Mayames, unit director. All were prepared to the questions about the film.

“Hindi ko ito ikinuwento para sa simpatiya.  Ikinuwento ko ito para sa katotohanan at hustisya,” says PCol. Hansel Marantan.

“We are thrilled with the ‘G’ rating (from the MTRCB) for our offiical trailer, as it allows Col. Marantan’s story to reach audiences of all ages across the country,” said Caduaya. 

“This approval is a huge boost for our team in Davao, it shows that even regional stories like ours can resonate nationally,” she added.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Nicolas Torre also shared his support for the film in a video message. “This movie reflects the discipline, excellence, and relentless commitment of our police officers to safeguard lives and uphold peace and order,” he said.

The film will highlight on six major operations of the PNP, most of which were sanctioned by the Office of the President to neutralize criminal elements and threats to national security. 

Sa Likod ng Tsapa is produced by POP Moviehouse and Newsline Philippines, and will be shown in Philippine cinemas staring August 13, 2025, distributed by Solar Pictures.
