Paul Rudd Scales Up: Scott Lang's Heroism Looms Large in "Ant-Man and The Wasp"

For Scott Lang, there’s no shrinking from responsibility when it comes to family.

When we last saw Scott Lang in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man,” he was trying to go straight for the good of his daughter Cassie. Now three years later, Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp” will allow us to find out if Scott stayed on that path for the good of his family.

Paul Rudd, who reprises the role of Scott Lang/Ant-Man in Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp,” reassures  that Scott is still doing the best he can. While that gives the fans hope, you never know when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe; there’s always a super villain out there who tends to bend things to their will.

When it came to stepping back into the shoes of the reluctant Super Hero facing the unimaginable, Rudd took on a singular approach. “One of the things that I really like about playing this character is that Scott is thrown into these extraordinary circumstances of shrinking and flying around on ants and dealing with life-threatening situations,” says Rudd. “I’ve always tried to sustain his way of dealing with everything with a sense of humor and a carefree attitude. I think it gives an audience a fun ride to see somebody like Scott Lang take in all of this craziness. So, for me, that’s fun to play.”

Cap Enlists Familiar Faces in "Captain America: Civil War" Posters‏

Cap's trusted allies stand by his side in all-new posters for Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War." Check out the posters below and see the action adventure when it lands in Philippine theaters April 27.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Welcomes "Ant-Man"‏

When Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hits Philippine theaters on July 15, director Peyton Reed believes the movie will surprise audiences. “Ant-Man is an incredibly powerful character,” says Reed. “He can shrink down to a very tiny size and actually command armies of different types of ants. The great thing about the comics and the great thing about this story is you get to see what kinds of things a bunch of ants can get done and the interesting ways in which they can help Scott Lang aka Ant-Man.”

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.”

REEL DEAL: Ant-Man REVIEW

It has been very anticipated that aside from the mainstream Avenger heroes, fans would love  to have a stand alone film for them. The first big step on this one is Ant-Man. We have to admit that not everybody knows him, and it is good move for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to end its second phase.

Ant-Man brings the lives of scientist Hank Pym (Douglas) , his daughter Hope (Lilly) and Scott Lang (Rudd) on a mission to stop Pym's former protege Darren Cross in creating a dangerous power suit. Hank Pym has actually made an earlier suit and has chosen Scott as he has skill and intelligence that he admired.

In the comics, Ant-Man is known to be one of the original founders of the Avengers which merits his place in the elite superhero team. For this movie, his involvement with the team will be revealed and a possible encounter with them. And like all Marvel movies, stay until all end credits and a there will be that clincher scene waiting for you.

Paul Rudd Suits Up as "Ant-Man"

In Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” multi-talented actor Paul Rudd (“I Love You, Man,” “Monsters vs. Aliens”) takes on the role of Scott Lang, a master burglar who becomes a Super Hero when his mentor, the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, takes him under his wing.

Explaining the relationship between Hank Pym and Scott, Rudd says, “My character Scott has nothing to do with Hank Pym. In fact, Scott is just getting out of jail where he’s been because he used his unique skill set to take down a corporation. But Hank Pym has singled him out; he’s found out who he was and has been watching him and sets up this scenario where Scott has to resort to his old ways. Scott winds up breaking into Pym’s house to get some money to help pay child support for his daughter, who’s really the only thing he cares about. Pym arranged the whole thing and has been pulling the puppet strings."

Corey Stoll is "Ant-Man" Villain Yellowjacket‏

Actor Corey Stoll (“The Strain,” “House of Cards”) is poised to bring a newly realized villain to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when he becomes Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket in Marvel’s “Ant-Man.”

Stoll explains, “There is a Darren Cross in the comics but he’s really not related to this and then there is a Yellowjacket but that was just one incarnation of Hank Pym, so this is its own thing and it’s an incredible license to be able to create a unique villain.”

Stoll was excited by the idea of playing a villain like Darren Cross because “the character is a great excuse for being able to be really broad and playful.” “Darren has this idea that he needs to be this salesman and this larger-than-life figure, so he goes at it but he keeps falling short,” elaborates Stoll. “It’s a really fun character to play because you have that opposition of the very scared little boy inside and the very boastful, industrial captain on the outside.”

Evangeline Lilly is Hope Van Dyne in Marvel's "Ant-Man"‏

When Evangeline Lilly was first approached to lend her talents to the part of Hope van Dyne in Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” she admits that she needed to do some research to get up to speed on Marvel.

“I was not familiar with Marvel comics or Ant-Man when I was first approached about the part, so I had to do some homework,” says Lilly. “I watched some Marvel films because I was completely ignorant of the incredible things that they were doing. I discovered that they are very talented with story and character and they know how to put on a spectacle. Then, when I was doing screen tests, they started showing me pre vis material of Ant-Man and the ants in action. Once I saw it with my own eyes, I suddenly realized how cool this movie was going to be and that it’s going to be something that has not been seen at all in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s going to have its own life and its own fan base.”
