"Babylon" Nabs 5 Golden Globe Noms Including Best Picture

Director Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, the lavish and provocative epic tale about early Hollywood has just received five Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.

Three of its principal cast members scored major acting nominations: Best Actress for Margot Robbie (as Nellie LaRoy, an unknown actress who is trying to get her big break into show business), Best Actor for Mexico’s Diego Calva (as Manny Torres, a young dreamer who will literally do anything for a Hollywood career) and Best Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt (as Jack Conrad, a silent movie star at the top of his game).

The film’s haunting music also captured a Best Original Score nomination for composer Justin Hurwitz.

Babylon opens in theaters across the Philippines on February 1st, 2023.

HBO and HBO Max received 9 Golden Globe® nominations for the upcoming 78th annual Golden Globe® Awards. The Golden Globe Awards will be presented Sunday, February 28. 

HBO’s 7 Golden Globe® nominations this year include:

4 nominations for “The Undoing”: Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television; Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Nicole Kidman); Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Hugh Grant); and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role (Donald Sutherland)

1 nomination for “Perry Mason”: Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama (Matthew Rhys)

1 nomination for “Lovecraft Country”: Best Television Series, Drama*

1 nomination for “I Know This Much Is True”: Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television (Mark Ruffalo)

"Mary Poppins Returns" Vies for Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Awards

Walt Disney Pictures’ heartwarming musical Mary Poppins Returns has solidified its status as a strong awards contender as the Rob Marshall film has collected major nominations at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.

At the Globes, Mary Poppins Returns is nominated for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy (Emily Blunt), Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Best Original Score - Motion Picture (Marc Shaiman).

"I delighted in playing every aspect of this extraordinary and iconic character,” Blunt said in a statement after learning of her Golden Globes nomination. “The entire experience working on it was spellbinding and that's largely to do with the incomparable Rob Marshall who took on this project with great love, depth and courage in his heart.
