The Philippine eagle is considered one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. It is also one of the rarest of all eagle species, found only in the forests of Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. Unfortunately, the destruction of forests threatens these raptors’ (meaning, “birds of prey”) existence. The Philippine Eagle is critically endangered and there only about 500 pairs left in the wild
Following the terms of the agreement, Avida Land will support PEF for the next 3 years to help breed Philippine eagles at the PEF sanctuary. The sponsorship also goes into efforts to educate the public on the importance of the Philippine eagle to Davao’s ecosystem and to our national heritage.
