“Bolder, nastier and bloodier” – promises director Parker Finn of “Smile 2,” rated R-18, uncut, opening in cinemas October 16

“The sequel goes bigger, it goes bolder,” promises writer/director/producer Parker Finn of Smile 2, follow-up to breakout psychological horror hit Smile. “It’s way more off the rails, it’s nastier, it’s bloodier. Everything you loved about the first film, we do that ten times bigger.”

Go behind the scenes of Smile 2 with writer/director/producer Parker Finn and star Naomi Scott (Skye Riley): https://youtu.be/mfd5rX9Lk3g

In the Smile universe, the entity or curse transfers from one victim to another by taking control of the current host and compelling them to end their own life in front of a witness – while sporting a frighteningly creepy smile, an unsettling image that has now become iconic in the world of horror movies. That witness then becomes the next victim and once inside them, the entity infiltrates the crevices of the victim’s mind, weaponizing their thoughts against them and gradually exerting greater control over their reality, manipulating their perceptions and actions.

“We watched that happen in the first film, and I wanted to find new ways to trick both Skye and the audience,” says Finn.

Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn fight for survival as Samira and Eric in “A Quiet Place: Day One”

Lupita Nyong’o was fascinated hearing writer-director Michael Sarnoski’s vision for the newest installment in the A Quiet Place film series, as she prepared to play Samira, one of the main survivors in A Quiet Place: Day One. “Like [the previous A Quiet Place films] them, the new story is character-driven and there are scary creatures. The difference is the setting and how these people choose to deal with this catastrophe.”

Big city, same rules. John Krasinski explores what it’s like for New York to go silent in “A Quiet Place: Day One”

While developing the next installment for the captivating world of A Quiet Place, producer and writer John Krasinski found himself wanting to see how the rest of the world is dealing with this otherworldly crisis. “I especially wondered how people in a big city like New York, with all the chaos and noise there, all the millions of people, would respond,” he says.

This idea formed into A Quiet Place: Day One, where an ordinary day in New York City turns horrific as creatures rain down on Earth and start slaughtering humans indiscriminately. “I wanted to take a place we all know and put it in extraordinary circumstances,” Krasinski explains. “New York City, whether you’ve been there or not, whether you like it or not, is instantly familiar. And in a world where murderous creatures can appear at any time, from any place they detect a noise, New York is not the best place to be.”

When they hear you. They hunt you. The new futuristic thriller. A Quiet Place: Day One, takes audiences back to the day the world went quiet. “We have gone back to the beginning of what happened before the creatures invaded the Earth,” explains Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther), who plays one of the lead characters Samira.

Actor Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), who stars as Eric, explains the recurring themes from the previous films and new twists fans can anticipate from this brand new adventure. “In [A Quiet Place:] Day One we explore similar themes to the beginning of the second film, where we watch the Abbott family negotiate this invasion, except this time we’re set in an urban environment: In New York City,” he says.

Ryan Reynolds brings heart and humor to family adventure-comedy “IF”

Ryan Reynolds is bringing his high-energy comedic humor that made his portrayal as the superhero Deadpool iconic, and turning it into something magical as the character Cal in the whimsical world of IF. In a world where IFs or imaginary friends are real, Cal, along with Bea (Cailey Fleming), are the only ones who can see these beings. Cal is on a mission to give purpose to forgotten IFs by matching them with a new kid to protect and play with, but his efforts have been fruitless so far. Along comes Bea, and everything begins to change.

The character Cal is a role tailored for Reynolds. Director-writer John Krasinski explains, “We needed someone who could play heart as well as humor, an expert at physical comedy who could create a very real relationship with Bea. Ryan is able to cover such a range of emotions and have such fun doing it.”

“I’ve always wanted to make a movie for them.” John Krasinski turns to family for inspiration for his whimsical adventure comedy movie “IF”

After directing, writing, and co-starring with his wife Emily Blunt in global box-office hits A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part II, John Krasinski does a complete 180 turn with IF, a whimsical adventure for the whole family to enjoy. The inspiration— his very own family.  “I’ve always wanted to make a movie for them,” he explains.

Watch Ryan Reynolds talk about John Krasinski’s storytelling here: https://youtu.be/0aZQr2Af7DA

Krasinski wanted to create something he and Blunt can enjoy with their daughters. “Emily says that the Quiet Place movies are PG-40 for them, so they won’t see those for a long time. During the early days of the pandemic, I got to spend a lot of time around my then-8-year-old and 6-year-old daughters and see the power of their imaginations. But as the pandemic wore on, I started seeing their lights dwindle. They had been so full of energy and excitement, but they were becoming more cautious about everything.”
