TFC at the Movies brings Philippine Festival films to the world

Start the year celebrating the Philippine cinema by catching some of the 2018 MMFF entries

The celebration of the Philippine Cinema continues as TFC at the Movies brings five of the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entries to the world.

Kicking off the celebration were the screenings last December of the films “Fantastica” and “Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles” which will also soon screen in other regions worldwide.

The comedy-fantasy film “Fantastica” which stars Vice Ganda is about the life of Belat (Vice Ganda) who hopes to bring back the life in their carnival for her mother Fec (Jaclyn Jose). She will then meet Prince (Richard Gutierrez) who asks for her help to save the world of Fantastica, and in return will help her restore the life of their carnival that is at the verge of being in possession of the family of her former best friend Dong Nam (Dingdong Dantes).

Indeed it really hurts my heart to see the passing of the King of Comedy. Dolphy or Rodolfo Vera Quizon has been part of so many generations with unparalleled comedy which gave him the title of "King of Comedy".  He made hundreds of movies, TV shows and countless fans that have gained him respect and love. As a kid of the 90s, my memories of him is his role as Kevin Cosme of Home Along the Riles.

Though I have not seen all of his film (mostly clips from his movies in the 50s), he is considered a "National Treasure"  for his contributions in the industry. Alongside FPJ, he shaped Philippine cinema with his roles from almost all profession and even gender. He is also the sole actor who was able to have a Darna movie.
