“SCARY MOVIE” scores franchise best $105M global opening; Opens in PH June 10, R-16, no cuts

Marlon Wayans as Shorty in Scary Movie

It’s a career high for Shorty and the rest of the beloved Scary Movie Core Four.

The sixth installment of Scary Movie, which sees the Core Four of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall reunite in the franchise for the first time in 25 years, debuted over the weekend to a franchise best $105 million worldwide. Directed by Michael Tiddes, a frequent collaborator of Marlon’s, the movie also debuted in the U.S. with a better than expected $55 million. Overseas, Scary Movie has so far racked up $50.5 million, the best global opening weekend for the series. Scary Movie opens in the Philippines this week on June 10, rated R-16, no cuts.

The R-rated comedy is back. ‘The comedy works because it’s bold, unapologetic, self-aware, and willing to go places most movies won’t,’ says director Michael Tiddes about “SCARY MOVIE,” only in cinemas JUNE 10. Rated R-16, no cuts

“When you come to this movie, you’ll laugh at the other guy and you’ll laugh at yourself,” promises Marlon Wayans, who, together with his brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory, created the first Scary Movie more than 25 years ago. “I’ve spent the last 15 years on a comedy stage every weekend so I know where the laughs are. I think we’re delivering something special to the theaters.”

Every line will be crossed. New poster released for “Scary Movie” - only in cinemas JUNE 10

We know you’ve been waiting for this one. In the new Scary Movie, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans re-join Anna Faris and Regina Hall in the popular movie series for the first time in 25 years. Also starring Kenan Thompson, Damon Wayans Jr., Sydney Park and more, Scary Movie opens in the Philippines only in cinemas June 10.

Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.

$100-M Grosser "Girls Trip" To Open Exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas

A certified blockbuster hit in the U.S., with box gross of over $100-million, Universal Pictures' adult comedy Girls Trip will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Trinoma, Greenbelt 1) starting September 27.

Girls Trip follows four lifelong friends––Ryan, Dina, Lisa and Sasha—as they travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing to make The Big Easy blush.

The all-star cast is led by Regina Hall as Ryan Pierce, a successful author at the crossroads in her marriage; Tiffany Haddish as the hotheaded, free-spirited and fiercely loyal Dina; Jada Pinkett Smith (Magic Mike XXL) as Lisa Cooper, a conservative nurse and mother of two children who desperately needs a weekend getaway; and Queen Latifah (Miracles from Heaven) as Sasha Franklin, a gossip blogger who is circling a life reset of her own.
