Frenemies Birds, Piggies Unite in "The Angry Birds Movie 2"

Frenemy.

It’s an evocative word indicating a person with whom one is friendly despite a fundamental dislike or rivalry. And it’s a perfectly succinct description of the idea hatched by the filmmakers to bring the world of Angry Birds to a new level, in Columbia Pictures’ new adventure comedy The Angry Birds Movie 2.

While the pigs and birds are joining forces to save their islands, another adventure is unfolding in Columbia Pictures’ adventure comedy The Angry Birds Movie 2, courtesy of three adorable hatchlings.

The trio of baby birds – Zoe (pink), Vivi (green) and Sam-Sam (beige) – are re-enacting the events of the first Angry Birds Movie as they honor their new hero, Red. When an outside force endangers some eggs, the youngsters find themselves embarking on an epic quest to rescue them.

Central to building upon the adventure, comedy and fun of the first Angry Birds Movie was the creation of new characters – allies, foes and frenemies for the much awaited sequel, The Angry Birds Movie 2, in Philippine cinemas August 21.

The flightless angry birds and the scheming green piggies take their beef to the next level in The Angry Birds Movie 2! When a new threat emerges that puts both Bird and Pig Island in danger, Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), Bomb (Danny McBride), and Mighty Eagle (Peter Dinklage) recruit Chuck’s sister Silver (Rachel Bloom) and team up with pigs Leonard (Bill Hader), his assistant Courtney (Awkwafina), and techpig Garry (Sterling K. Brown) to forge an unsteady truce and form an unlikely superteam to save their homes.

Welcome Back the Returning Heroes in "The Angry Birds Movie 2"

Back to anchor Columbia Pictures’ all-new adventure The Angry Birds Movie 2 are our three angry birds Red, Chuck, and Bomb, and leader of Piggy Island, Leonard.

But having experienced a heroic adventure in the first film, the flightless trio have undergone some changes. “Each character brings something unique to the table to help get the job done,” says producer John. Cohen.

Kesha’s “Best Day” from “The Angry Birds Movie 2” is a Prescription for Fun

Today, Kesha drops “Best Day (Angry Birds 2 Remix)” via Kemosabe/RCA Records, encapsulating the carefree spirit of the season and suggesting we take a walk in the sunshine, dance with our friends and embrace the day to the fullest. Featured in The Angry Birds Movie 2 (out August 21st in the Philippines via Sony Pictures Animation in association with Rovio Entertainment), “Best Day (Angry Birds 2 Remix)” is pop music at its most joyful.

With a smooth vocal performance, funk bass line, beachside vibe, and a mantra-like refrain about seizing the moment and expelling negativity, the song captures what continues to make Kesha one of the pop world’s most refreshing stars: her effortlessly exciting and melodious songwriting, her spirited and earnest vocals, and of course her occasional doses of humor.

The U.N., Cast of "The Angry Birds Movie 2" Join Forces on Climate Change Campaign

The Angry Birds and the green piggies have joined forces with the United Nations in support of its ActNow climate campaign, a global call for citizen action on climate change. Back with the UN and the UN Foundation after 2016's successful #AngryBirdsHappyPlanet partnership, the birds are joined this time around by their longtime enemies (turned “frenemies”) the pigs and are looking to spread awareness about individual actions we can all take to combat climate change.

As part of the campaign, a public service announcement (PSA) has been launched starring the Angry Birds, the green piggies and the English-speaking voice cast behind the film The Angry Birds Movie 2. Together, they are encouraging citizens to discover and track simple everyday actions that can make a difference by using the UN’s innovative new online climate action tool, the ActNow Bot.
