DUNE PART TWO - Power Comes From The Sands

Finally saw the Dune movie adaptation but started with Part 2, yet I still got the gist of how this universe works and the complex characters and world building made by Frank Herbert. And from many reviews, Dune Part One is critically acclaimed for its ensemble of great actors, production, and also an expansive movie franchise lead by its director Denis Villeneuve.

Dune Part Two continues the struggle of Paul Atreides (Timothée), to learn the ways of the dessert planet Arrakis which is known for its "spice" production and coveted by the empire. Here we see the path of having the prophesized leader by the Fremmen (Lisan al-Gaib) is coming true with Paul. His rise to power and influence along with his mother now called Reverend Mother, rises tensions across the planet along with its citizens and warrior tribes.

Though I have not watched the first film, the lore and intricacies of part two opened my curiosity about Dune which led me to watch videos about the story of Dune and the possible future they would make. The aesthetics of the film may involve a lot of sand and desert but seeing it on IMAX gives its more justice in understanding the movie.

Dune: Part Two acclaimed by critics as blockbuster masterpiece, debuting with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score.

Rave reviews are flowing in as critics praise Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated action spectacle. With a 97% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ consensus is that Dune: Part Two is visually thrilling and narratively epic.

Continuing the streak from its predecessor, Dune: Part Two lands with a success for reviewers. The Independent writes, “Dune: Part Two, like its predecessor, is a work of total sensory and imaginative immersion.” Total Film adds the movie to the hall of beloved sequels, saying, “However you cut it, Villeneuve wrangles coherence from Herbert’s unruly elements to deliver a sequel that ranks alongside The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back – and Blade Runner 2049.”
