Ayala Malls Cinemas brings another highly anticipated film to their roster of critically acclaimed titles with the exclusive Philippine theatrical run of Challengers starting April 24.  The film is helmed by visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagdnino, known for his works Call Me By Your Name and Bones and All, and features stellar and powerhouse performances from main stars Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor 

In Challengers, Zendaya stars as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to Art, a champion on a losing streak played by Mike Faist of West Side Story, Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick, portrayed by Josh O’ Connor of The Crown, who also happens to be Art’s former best friend and Tashi’s former boyfriend. 

"King Richard" Opens Exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas on Feb 23

Fresh from garnering six major Academy Awards nominations including Best Picture, Warner Bros. Pictures’ moving drama “King Richard” will be shown exclusively at select Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 23.

Based on the true story that will inspire the world, “King Richard” follows the journey of Richard Williams, an undeterred father instrumental in raising two of the most extraordinarily gifted athletes of all time, who will end up changing the sport of tennis forever.  Two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (“Ali,” “The Pursuit of Happyness”) stars as Richard, under the direction of Reinaldo Marcus Green (“Monsters and Men”).

"Downhill" Exclusive at Ayala Malls Cinemas Starting Feb 12

Julia Louis-Dreyfus (TV’s “Veep”) and Will Ferrell star in the Sundance Film Festival hit comedy Searchlight Pictures’ “Downhill” from the Oscar-winning co-writers of “The Descendants. 

To be shown exclusively at selected Ayala Malls Cinemas starting February 12, “Downhill” tells the story of a married couple thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate their lives and how they feel about each other after barely escaping an avalanche during a family ski vacation in the Alps.

Directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash from a screenplay by Jesse Armstrong, and Faxon & Rash; Searchlight Pictures’ “Downhill” also stars Zach Woods, Zoë Chao, Miranda Otto and Kristofer Hivju. It is inspired by the acclaimed 2014 Swedish film “Force Majeure.”

Nicholas Hoult dons outlandish outfits and puts on heavy wig in this year’s frontrunner Oscar contender and entertaining royal rumble movie “The Favourite” as Robert Harvey, chief minister to Queen Anne played by Best Actress nominee, Olivia Colman.

Gout-ridden and beset by grief over the loss of no fewer than 17 children, Anne relies on her only confidant, Lady Sarah Churchill (Rachel Weisz), who keeps the Privy Purse and offers much more than guidance in the matters of state. Her relationship with the Queen is as intimate as it comes, but when she introduces her downtrodden cousin, Abigail Hill (Emma Stone), to court, she soon discovers a rival for Anne’s affections, and so begins a struggle for power and love that might threaten the monarchy itself.

LGBT Film "4 DAYS" Opens October 18 at Ayala Malls Cinemas

dolf Alix Jr.’s LGBT themed film “4 Days” starring indie actor Mikoy Morales and Sebastian Castro that made its debut at the 2016 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival will now screen at exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas’ Greenbelt 1 and Trinoma starting October 18.

“4 Days” takes on the struggles of a gay relationship in times of confusion, curiosity and whether to stay inside or come out of the closet.  The movie is not the highly typical gay love story where boy meets boy and falls in love, it goes through the downfall of questioning the reality of one man’s own sexuality,  whether or not to choose a woman because of societal culture or to accept the fact that it is okay to love a man even if you’re a man yourself.

Ayala Malls Cinemas- Spanish Film Festival at Greenbelt3

Currently on screen until October 15, PELÍCULA-PELIKULA, the biggest Spanish film festival in Asia, will be featuring the best of contemporary Spanish cinema at the Greenbelt 3 Cinemas, Makati. Presented by Instituto Cervantes, the Embassy of Spain-AECID, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and Ayala Cinemas, the 16th edition of the Spanish Film Festival will screen more than 20 films.

Since its conception in 2002 by Instituto Cervantes, the Festival has traditionally been graced by the presence of Spanish and Latin American filmmakers. In this edition, film director Salvador Calvo will fly to Manila to open the Festival with his movie 1898, Los últimos de Filipinas. Produced in 2016, the film retells the story of the Baler siege, where in 1898 a group of Spanish soldiers resisted for 337 days without knowing that the war was over. Director Salvador Calvo will have a Q&A with the audience on October 6, at 9:30pm.
