Rhian Ramos gears up for a different kind of competition

GMANetwork.com chanced upon actress Rhian Ramos during the press conference of her upcoming primetime series on GMA, "Genesis," which is top-billed by Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.

The actress shared how happy she is to be a part of the series, which began production barely a few months after her previous series “Indio” aired its grand finale.

"Every one on the set of ‘Genesis’ does his job really well. Every one is helping each other. ‘Pag nasa eksena ka, you feel that you are in a team," said Rhian.

Apart from working on the series, Rhian is also seriously preparing for a motor sports/car racing event on Saturday, October 12, at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.  It is organized by a popular automobile manufacturer. Aside from Rhian, kapuso hunk actor Aljur Abrenica is also joining the competition.

“Sosy Problems" a must-see movie this Christmas

Heart, Solenn, Bianca, Rhian topbill GMA Films’ 2012 MMFF entry “Sosy Problems”

This Christmas, GMA Films will bring summer-level heat to the supposedly cool season as it ushers four lovely and gorgeous “sosy” ladies on to the big screen with “Sosy Problems,” its official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The light comedy movie stars Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos with Kapuso hunk Aljur Abrenica.

“Sosy Problems,” which opened in nationwide theatres today, December 25, is about four rich and famous ladies and their seemingly trivial, but nevertheless, hilarious sources of stress.

Their main problem, however, is that their favorite hangout place, The Polo Club, which reminds them of all the memories of their “firsts” in life – including their first kisses and love affairs – is in danger of being torn down and replaced with a mall that is not so much for the rich and famous: in other words, not a “sosy” mall.

The “sosy” ladies will do everything they can in order to stop the Polo Club owners from pursuing their plans, and they will risk everything -- even their poise and glamour – to achieve their goal.  In the end, out of desperation, they make a fool out of themselves -- and that’s the joke.

REEL DEAL: Sosy Problems REVIEW (MMFF Special)

For the MMFF, I am interested with something unique for the season and Sosy Problems was one of them. They might be mistakenly compared to another MMFF movie Desperadas which is also a band of girls.  But these girls are the super duper upper class ones with each having their own issues despite their wealth and social status.

The movie stars Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos as the wealthy and "sosyal" ladies. Also in the cast are Cherie Gil, Agot Isidro, Mylene Dizon, Aljur Abrenica, Alden Richards, Mikael Daez, Tim Yap, and Ruffa Gutierrez.

Though it may show their rich and lavish lifestyle, it shows an exaggerated yet entertaining execution of their ignorance and struggles despite having everything. With the people around them also causing their dilemmas, their world gets crazier and crazier.

It features many life parodies of the rich and powerful. Like the instant Millionaires, Accused Politicians, Business Tycoons, and Beauty Rivalry. There is also a touch of ordinary people which balances the social struggles and at some point reminded me of very rich kids shown in reality shows and how they breakdown. It caters to both sexes, like for the girls is the ultimate "kikay barkada, BFF Forever!" one would want to have, and for the men, the beautiful and sexy ladies who charms everyone without going all out. I think Donya Angelica Santibanez will like the movie as she is also the "Sosy" Meme!

“Sosy Problems" a must-see movie this Christmas

GMA Films’ official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival, “Sosy Problems,” opened in nationwide theatres (December 25) along with the rest of the entries in the annual festival.

Directed by Andoy Ranay, the comedy film stars Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos with Aljur Abrenica.

Also starring in the movie are Mikael Daez as Santi, Alden Richards as Iñigo, classy character actress Cherie Gil as Martina, Mylene Dizon as Bernice, Mikey Bustos as Denmark, Tim Yap as Jamie Yap, Agot Isidro as Glory, Maritoni Fernandez as Dada, Johnny Revilla as Gabriel, Ricky Davao as Sebastian, Nova Villa as Lola Patria, Barbie Forteza as Becca, Kristoffer Martin as Israel with the special participation of Ruffa Gutierrez as Luca.

REEL DEAL: ‘Sosy Problems’: Comedy to the ‘sosiest’ level

Beginning today, Christmas Day, GMA Films will make moviegoers experience a holiday treat to the ‘sosiest’ level with “Sosy Problems,” its official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The movie, which stars four of GMA Network’s hottest leading ladies: Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos with Kapuso hunk actor Aljur Abrenica, is set to deliver a different kind of comedy: one that is light and “sosy.”

“Sosy Problems” is anything but slapstick comedy, although one could dub it as ‘lipstick comedy’ in that aside from titillating the funny bones of fans of comedy films, it will surely whet the appetite of movie viewers who are interested in high life fashion.

The movie tells about four rich, famous and gorgeous ladies who have one major problem: their favorite hangout place, The Polo Club, is in danger of being demolished and its owners are planning to build a not-so-sosy mall in its place.  The ladies will join forces and combine their resources in order to bring the demolition to a halt.  They will risk everything – even their poise and composure – to send their message across.

REEL DEAL: Sosy Problems INTERVIEW

Here is the pocket interview with Solenn Heusaff, Rhian Ramos, and Bianca King held last December 18, 2012 talking about their MMFF movies "Sosy Problems."

Note: Heart Evangelista, who is also one of the lead stars of the movie, was not available for the pocket interview because she was dubbing her dialogues in the film.

Q: What are your characters in the movie?

SOLENN: “Ako dito si Margaux, I am half-Filipina and half-French.  Wala na akong dad and my mom is married to a French ambassador.  Super super yaman kami.  Actually, wala naman akong masyadong problema except that lagi lang akong in competition with my bestfriend, Claudia (Heart Evangelista).  Bukod sa amin, yung mga mommies din namin are competiting with each other.”

RHIAN: “My character’s name is Lizzie, and she’s the richest in the group.  She’s very flashy; she’s never subtle.  She likes to flash her money around.  She’s also bossy.  Her problem is actually more of an internal problem.  Her friends and family just give up on her because she’s really a brat and she’s very annoying.  She finds herself by finally living a life of simplicity.  The funny part in it is that when you take someone who doesn’t know how to do what common people do and you put them in a situation where they have no choice, like Solenn in Survivor (laughs).”

REEL DEAL: Sosy Problems MMFF SPOTLIGHT

'It' girls rock the silver screen via GMA Films' Metro Manila Film Festival entry Sosy Problems

On December 25, the country's hottest "it" girls Heart Evangelista, Solenn Heussaff, Bianca King and Rhian Ramos come together for Sosy Problems, the glossiest entry of GMA Films to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Four girls, rich and famous, may have the most expensive pairs of shoes, high-end designer bags and the life that every girl wanted - but behind the glitz and glamour are the struggles and differences that they have to face.

In the story, Sosy girls' tambayan, The Polo Club, is in danger of being torn down. The new owners of the exclusive club want to build a "yaya mall" - which for the girls is not at all a Sosy plan.

GMA NETWORK STATEMENT ON RHIAN RAMOS’ REQUEST FOR LEAVE

GMA Network received a request from its artist Rhian Ramos for a few weeks leave from her work schedule because of the trauma she is going through. She asked that she be replaced in “The Beloved” as she feels that she cannot give her best to the show given her current state of mind.  She also asked for a few weeks leave from her other shows “Manny Many Prizes” and “Party Pilipinas.”

GMA understands her request and will allow her to take some time out from her obligations to the Network. Once she comes back from her break, she will resume appearing in her shows “Manny Many Prizes” and “Party Pilipinas.”  She will also resume work on her new movie project with GMA Films.

REEL DEAL Movies and Television: The Road REVIEW

With local films today stilling clinging to comedy, drama and love stories, thriller movies has been left behind due to the lack of that special factor successful movie film has. And with many losing faith in the horror industry GMA Films, The Road takes us on a detour from conventional horror into a more darker movie. The movie transcends into 3 parts interconnected with each other with a different timeline. The thrill in this movie is not really with the gore but the story itself and the twisted characters that makes every scene not to be missed. It will leave you an impression that someone or something is watching you every time you drive at night or pass by a long dark road.
