Maja's "BELIEVE" First OPM Record To Be Mastered For iTunes

Maja Salvador will be leaving a huge footprint on the music scene with her debut album “Believe”. And it is not loosely said so. As apart from the album being certified Gold last June (only 2 months after the official release) and obtaining an official Vevo channel on YouTube with views summing up to almost 6 million, the album takes the cake off the plate of its contemporaries once again by becoming the first OPM album to be mastered for iTunes.

A “mastered for iTunes” song is a digitally downloadable track on iTunes, taking legs of optimization to make every bit of it in the highest definition possible and as close to how artists and their production team intend every song to be heard as possible, while keeping the music file size down for portability and for more efficient digital distribution.

Award-winning, American singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey has recorded a unique reimagining of the renowned fairy-tale tune “Once Upon A Dream” from Disney’s classic animated film “Sleeping Beauty,” which is featured in the theatrical trailer & end credits of the Disney film “Maleficent”-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihgvGPlSkXE . This haunting cover was unveiled as part of a 90-second sneak peek of Disney’s “Maleficent” during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards® last January 2014. The track is included in the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack featuring 71 minutes of original James Newton Howard score. Howard is best known for his brilliant theatrical scores for films such as “Pretty Woman”, “The Hunger Games”, “Batman Begins”, “King Kong” and “The Sixth Sense” among others.

Julie Anne San Jose Goes Double Platinum

GMA Records handed out its first-ever Double Platinum Record award to one of its recording artists, Julie Anne San Jose, yesterday in Party Pilipinas for the outstanding sales of her self-titled debut solo album, having exceeded over 30,000 units sold in both physical (CDs) and digital sales.

The album, which was first released thru iTunes last Aug. 10, immediately landed on iTunes Philippines’ No. 1 spot as the most downloaded album.  It also entered the sales charts of iTunes Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, HongKong, Macau and Taiwan and eventually became one of iTunes Southeast Asia’s Top 10 most downloaded albums.

MUSIC LYF: Julie Anne San Jose’s Debut Album turns Platinum

Asia’s Pop Sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose releases her latest single “Bakit Ngayon” on Party Pilipinas today.  This is the 3rd single lifted off her self-titled debut album which is now a certified Platinum Record, having exceeded over 30,000 units in both physical (CDs) and digital sales.  

“Bakit Ngayon” follows closely on the heels of her two previously hit singles “I’ll Be There” and “Enough”.  “I’ll Be There” is a typical ballad that talks about young love while “Enough” is an upbeat, R&B-infused tune.  Julie Anne further shows her versatility as a singer with the release of “Bakit Ngayon”, a pop-rock Tagalog song composed by up and coming band vocalist Barbara Jeanne Ponciano.

REEL DEAL: The Road NEWS

The U.S. theatrical trailer of GMA Films’ “The Road” became no. 1 among the most popular trailers in iTunes starting 5pm LA time (April 23)  or 8am Manila (April 24).  In the screen capture below, “The Road’s” trailer was at the number 1 spot followed by the trailer of “The Avengers.” As the Road hit US Theaters this May 2012.
