The Daltons face-off against Paddy, played by James McAvoy, and his reign of terror in “Speak No Evil.”

The Daltons try to survive as their dream vacation turns into a psychological nightmare in Speak No Evil, the latest thriller from Blumhouse. In the film, the contrast between the Dalton family and Paddy’s family sets the tone for the insidious horror that simmers and eventually gets unleashed.

The Daltons, an American family struggling with their life in England, have a chance meeting with a British family during a trip to Italy, and get invited to get away from it all on their rustic countryside farmhouse. The Daltons consist of Ben(Scoot McNairy), his wife Louise(Mackenzie Davis), and their daughter Agnes. Ben is stuck in an unfulfilling rut as his career was upended shortly after moving his whole family to London from the United States. He feels emasculated at the prospect of unemployment and not being able to provide for his family.

Darkness unfolds in the latest Blumhouse thriller, “Speak No Evil.” Unleashing horror in PH cinemas on September 11

Producer Jason Blum got a call from an executive who saw a thriller that got under his skin, and was eager to see this film. The movie was the 2022 Danish film, Gaesterne, and the screenplay went on to be the inspiration for the latest Blumhouse thriller Speak No Evil. “I’m always glad to be the guy who gets the call when someone sees something disturbing— if it ruins your day, call me!— so I arranged to see it and I was floored. As it unfolded, I recoiled with each new revelation, and when it was over, I couldn’t shake it. I believed that in the right hands, an English language reinterpretation could be a very memorable, very unsettling, very special film,” Blum says.

Don’t miss these movies, opening in cinemas in September!

James Mcavoy Is Terrifying In The Latest Blumhouse Thriller “Speak No Evil”

A British family welcomes an American family to their idyllic farmhouse for the weekend, but the dream vacation soon turns into a  nightmare in Speak No Evil. Playing the role of the charismatic, alpha-male host and head of the family Paddy is BAFTA award-winner James McAvoy(known for his role as the young Charles Xavier in the X-Men universe), who was immediately intrigued when director James Watkins pitched him the role.  “Blumhouse has done so many kinds of movies, but they’re mostly known for the horror genre, and they’re exceptionally good at it,” says McAvoy. “But reading the script, what kept me going after page three was the fact that these characters felt like real people and that it was based on things that we can recognize in the real world.”
