" PINOCCHIO, THE LIVE MARIONETTE MUSICAL " Is All Set To Open

Carlo Collodi’s popuplar story about a puppet named PINOCCHIO will come to life on stage by premiere kid actors of the country under Kids Acts Philippines. The first in the country doing musicals for kids and by the kids, is the company’s 14th Musical Theatre Season offering for school, parents, children and the entire family.

Kids Acts Philippines proudly presents “PINOCCHIO” with script, lyrics and direction by LUIGI NACARIO, and music by EUGENE BELBIS. The group won an award from ALIW Awards through Hansel and Gretel as Best Production for Children wherein all featured actors of the musical were kids. Belbis and Nacario’s collaboration of creating children’s musicals can be considered works of the masters, that may lead them to be christened as Fathers of Philippine Children’s Theatre.

Pinocchio is a of a puppet boy who dreamed to become a real boy. The story begun, one fine day, that a piece of wood found itself in the shop of an old carpenter named Master Cherry to make the leg of a table. As he was about to give the first blow of his hatchet, he heard a wee, little voice coming from the wood. His face had changed and fright had turned him to death. To appease his terror, he gave the piece of wood to his friend Geppetto who took it to make himself a marionette, a puppet that will dance, fence and turn somersaults. He called it Pinocchio, the first pranks of the marionette, the name that will make his fortune. The adventure of Pinocchio started right after he was fashioned by his father Geppetto. He went out of his way to explore the world of wonders and never returned

ART IS A BANG: "Pinocchio" Auditions on March 30 and April 6

Auditions for lead roles and ensemble for the Repertory Philippines Theater for Young Audiences Production of “ PINOCCHIO ” will be held on March 30 and April 6 at 6:00 pm at the Onstage Theater, Greenbelt One, Makati City. 

Applicants will be tested for voice, musicality, the ability to pick up notes quickly and skill at parts singing, acting, and movement. 

The ability to speak good English is a requirement for all lead roles.

ART IS A BANG: Auditions For Pinocchio Set On March 1

Repertory Theater for Young Audiences is holding auditions for the title role of Pinocchio in the forthcoming production of the same name opening on August 16, 2014. Auditions will be held on Saturday, March 1 at 10:00am at the Onstage theater 2nd floor Greenbelt One.

Auditions are open to boys and girls 10 to 15 years of age .Girls must be willing to play a boy. Boys older than 15 should be less then 5 ft.. Those who audition should be able to sing in a high or tenor voice, to move well and be able to take choreography, and to speak good English.

RYTA is specially searching for home schooled children who can perform on weekdays. Because of the number of performances, the role of Pinocchio will be alternately played by at least five actors.

Auditioners should fill out an application form available either at the REP office or on line and learn the audition song before the auditions. 2014 would be a a great year for theater. With the emergence of more theater companies, more stage plays, the competition pushes for more compelling content and materials which many will appreciate. 

For the 47th year of Repertory Philippines, the year 2014 proudly marks the 77th theater season and they have an exciting line up of shows that will surely be one of the best theater treats everyone will experience like no other. 

Having great plays for the year like Alice in Wonderland and the Producers marks an amazing 2013 for the company and this inspires them to come up with materials that would bring patrons coming back to the stage.
