REEL DEAL: The Hunger Games Catching Fire REVIEW

Having read the whole book trilogy made me a conscious critic for the movie, and when the first movie came out, I was impressed that they have condensed the story into a two hour movie which still excites me and amazes me on its execution. Now playing in theaters is the second installment of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Now I am expecting more from the series.

Katniss Everdeen (Jenifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Huctcherson) as victors of the 74th Hunger Games will noe embark on thei victory tour as a couple until they come into the rising revolution that is happening to the districts. The twist of the Quarter Quell, will bring them back ot the arena with the past victors and all those involved in the games.

What I loved about this sequel is its progressive storyline which stayed true to the nature of the book, and kept ample time for moments that are worth highlighting. I love the visual effects which was very carefully detailed especially with the technological and structural advancement in the world of Panem.

REEL DEAL: Director Neil Jordan on Byzantium and Vampire Movies

Neil Jordan’s body of work is an odd, fascinating beast. On one level, the Irish director’s fablelike films — with their often mystical elements, their vivid photography, and their tormented, passionate characters — are remarkably consistent in tone, style, and themes. On another level, though, the films are a diverse lot, ranging from moody dramas like Mona Lisa and The End of the Affair, to thrillers like The Crying Game and The Good Thief, to big-budget, star-studded epics like Interview With a Vampire and Michael Collins, to fairy tales like The Company of Wolves. He’s even made a couple of exuberant comedies along the way (including High Spirits, which is better than you remember). Now, with his latest, Byzantium, a tale of mother-and-daughter vampires (played by Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan) hiding out in a British seaside town, Jordan has returned to the vampire genre, and the result is one of his strongest, most ambitious and romantic works in years. Jordan talked to us about his new movie, fairy tales, and vampires.

Asia’s culture probably holds the creepiest of ghostly encounters based on true events due to the people’s dire need to connect with the spirits of their loved ones or someone who might reveal truths of unsolved mysteries.

REEL DEAL: Emily Blunt fights love and lies in ‘Arthur Newman’

As a youngster, Emily Blunt struggled to overcome a stammer, and with a teacher’s help eventually overcame it. So it’s quite a testament that the English actress would eventually make a career out of speaking, especially as the profession requires her to play different characters with various accents.

In the romantic drama Arthur Newman, she is paired with fellow Brit Colin Firth, in which they both play Americans. Of course, Blunt is no stranger to American accents. She played a Yank in Sunshine Cleaning, Charlie Wilson’s War, and last year’s sci-fi epic Looper, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She also lives in America with her American husband John Krasinski (The Office).

As Mike, she plays a troubled young woman trying to escape her past who runs into Firth (playing the title character). His character has faked his death in order to erase his problems. The two end up on a road trip together from Florida to Indiana, where Newman (Firth) believes he can start fresh as a professional golf instructor. The two share some sexy scenes together as their characters share some intimate moments as they get to know each other.

F1 is probably the most thrilling sport in the world today as it involves a lot of speed, talent and mind conditioning. The pressure is intense as well as the risk of being burn alive or crash to a fatal end. And there has been a number of movies dedicated to this sport and their heroes, but the greatest story in the Formula 1 history is probably the legendary rivalry of Nikki Lauda and James Hunt in 1976.

RUSH gives live to this timeless conflict between two people with extreme lifestyles yet bounded by the thrill of racing. Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl play as Hunt and Lauda respectively as the controversial friends and enemies in the name of the race.

From his blockbuster works such as “Real Steel,” “Cheaper By The Dozen,” “Night at the Museum 1 & 2,” and “Date Night,” filmmaker Shawn Levy brings in the outcasts, the obsolete and the nerds in the upcoming comedy movie “The Internship” starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

“The Internship” finds Nick (Wilson) and his partner Billy (Vaughn), as two newly unemployed watch salesman trying to find employment with a limited skill-set in a world that appears to have passed them by.

“As salesmen they are incredibly good at what they do,” says Levy, “but the whole profession of selling in person, in an age where most people areincreasingly buying their goods on the Internet, is on the wane. So they are downsized, suddenly unemployed, and Vince's character comes up with this idea of applying for an internship at Google, a company that represents the vanguard of the new economy. It's a long shot, but this possibility of self-reinvention is exciting to Billy and Nick and they take their shot.”
