Sci-Fi Adventure "Pixels" Opens in IMAX 3D, 2D Cinemas Aug 26‏

IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced recently that “Pixels,” the action-comedy starring Adam Sandler, directed by Chris Columbus, and produced by Happy Madison Productions and 1492 Pictures, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® 3D format and released into IMAX® theatres across the Philippines on August 26. The film will also open in 2D cinemas everywhere in the country on the same date.

Along with Sandler, the film also stars Kevin James, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Michelle Monaghan.

Not only does the unique plot and hilarious comedy of Columbia Pictures’ “Pixels” distinguish it from the crowd, but the film also looks different from other summer films. “Most visual effects movies – including movies I’ve been involved with – set out to create extraordinarily realistic visual effects,” director Chris Columbus explains.

“On Pixels, we were aiming for something you’ve never seen before. When these videogame characters come to life, they take on this pixelated form with an aura lit from within, and constantly moving. It’s literally a three-dimensional version of the 8-bit games you used to see on your arcade screen.”

Michelle Monaghan (“Mission: Impossible III,” “Made of Honor”) stars alongside Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “Pixels” from director Chris Columbus.

She stars as Lt. Colonel Violet Van Patten, a military officer who must oversee a rag-tag bunch of gamers called The Arcaders who are called into action in a bid to save the planet from aliens who attack using famous arcade game characters, such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.

Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad Play Unlikely Heroes in "Pixels"‏

Peter Dinklage (HBO's “Game of Thrones,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) and Josh Gad (“Frozen”) star as two of four unlikely heroes who are called upon to save the world, in Columbia Pictures' new action comedy “Pixels.”

In the film which also stars Adam Sandler, aliens attack the Earth, using 1980s videogames as the model for their attacks. As US President Cooper (Kevin James) calls on Sam Brenner (Sandler) to put together an expert team of Arcaders to help fight the aliens, Brenner tracks down the now-grown men who were the champions as kids.

From Chris Columbus, director of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone,” comes Columbia Pictures’ “Pixels,” the tentpole action comedy in which aliens attack the Earth, using 1980s videogames as the model for their invasion.

Columbus helped define 1980s movies as the writer of “Gremlins” and “The Goonies,” then went on to direct beloved, classic comedies like “Home Alone” and “Mrs. Doubtfire,” and help launch epic, special-effects blockbuster franchises like “Harry Potter,” “Percy Jackson” and “Night at the Museum.”

Comedic Duos is actually a hit or miss chemistry that is a big gamble  for movie. For The Wedding Ringer, it was an experimental success. Featuring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad, the duo who are known to be comedians take a interesting story of Best Man for hire.

With a wedding waiting to commence, and all other groom's men are non existent fictitious characters, the Groom faces his own dilemma to please his wife-to-be.

The genesis for the premise of Columbia Pictures' new comedy “The Wedding Ringer” can be traced all the way back to a random phone call director Jeremy Garelick received from a high school classmate.

"A person I knew in high school called me out of nowhere many years later and said 'Rebecca and I are getting married,' recalls director Garelick. I said 'Congratulations' and in my mind I am thinking 'Who's Rebecca and why are you calling me?' He asked me to save the date, but I'm thinking why would I even go to this wedding? I wasn't really friends with this guy in high school, but a month later he called again and said 'Rebecca and I would be honored if you would be in our wedding party as one of my groomsman.' I was caught off guard and didn't know what to do, so I said yes and after I hung up the phone, I thought, 'What did I just agree to'? Now I have to fly from Los Angeles all the way back east for this wedding with people I don't even know."
