Philippine Six Sigma Conference 2010

Fiera de Manila, in cooperation with Center for Lean Systems and Management (De La Salle University), International Alliance of Quality Professionals (IAQP), and Digileaf, Inc., is organizing the Philippine Six Sigma Conference 2010 at Hotel Intercontinental Makati City this August 4 and 5, 2010.
As an Industrial Engineering student, I find this one important with my field as it deals with what I will be working in the future. I do love knowing how things work and how its made, now Six Sigma, a process used by many companies worldwide adapted this method to further increase productivity and also efficiency. However, this one can also be applied to the fields of studied sciences. As a blogger, efficiency is very important in many ways. As a person, this method can be applied to our daily routines and also promote success to the one who follows this. I hope to be part of this event since this will definitely help me meet people and know more information. And even I am still a student, kno…

Globe Telecom's Advisory on Typhoon Basyang

Globe Telecom is working to fully restore telecommunication service in selected areas in Luzon and Metro Manila which were affected by the prolonged commercial power outage. A significant part of our network has been restored in full, save for isolated areas in Metro Manila and Luzon.

While we augment our power supply with batteries and generator sets for our cell sites and wired line cabinets, these sources have limited life spans, and commercial power has been out since Tuesday night.

We appeal to the power utilities to expedite the restoration of power, to make available all types of Globe services to our subscribers.

For more information or to report any service difficulty, please send a message to Globe Faith Tiuseco or to @talk2Globe on Twitter. Please be safe.

'Basyang' Fierce Stories...

So after the torturing heat wave during summer, we were very desperate to have rain. However,  with sudden rainfalls in some areas it brought more bane than boon. And this time we have this new typhoon named 'Basyang' whose winds crated havoc especially with the electricity in the metro. President Noy talked to the weather officials that did not anticipate the damage it will bring to the metro. So far operations of the LRT and MRT have been suspended, but number coding has been lifted. Many homes still don't have electricity  and there were a lot of reports of damages such as uprooted trees and posts, blown roofs and tarpulins and other debris. Classes are suspended yet CHED says suspension for tertiary level is upon the discretion of the school administration. I actually stayed in the office to sleep and do some online stuff. I will not be able to cook since I use a rice cooker. For now, I am still checking on news for any other incidents and accidents caused by the typho…

Avatar Special Edition shows August!

AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION LIMITED THEATRICAL ENGAGEMENT, BEGINS AUGUST 27 EXCLUSIVELY IN DIGITAL 3D AND IMAX® 3D IN THE PHILS. Los Angeles – 20th Century Fox and James Cameron will re-release “AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION” starting August 27, in a limited engagement and exclusively in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D cinemas. This version of Cameron’s history-making and groundbreaking epic will include more than eight minutes of new footage. Since – and largely as of result of -- AVATAR’s release last December, the number of available digital 3D screens has exploded, and moviegoers who missed experiencing the film in 3D will now have that opportunity. "Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we’re making that possible. AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION will be exclusively in 3D, and will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes. Whether you already love the movie, or you've never seen it…

REEL DEAL: Predators

Another action-suspense flick that I thought I would not appreciate but really made my day. Predators was a movie to see as you would get into different emotions as the hunt begins between the humans and the "predators".
I love the new way of how this suspense classic is told in a new story in a new location. It actually made more mysteries regarding the creature that seem to be invincible. With men who never knew each other, they are brought to a unknown planet. Their only option is to survive or be a trophy. I was a wee boy when I saw a predator movie yet, I felt there were the elements of nostalgia upon the how the movie was made. There was no complicated riddles or codes that need to be discovered, its was pratically survive or die.
It might seem to be unfair for the humans since they are inferior with the creatures and with limited tools and ammunition , they find ways on how to outwit the hunters that in the first place they don't know how did they get there.
It ope…

I deserve an Android phone!

Why do you deserve an Android phone?  (this is the question from a post in jehzlau concepts)
Yes, you heard me right, more than a want, I need an android phone. Why? Its so obvious that I never had a phone like this, and since I am a blogger, I don't have a camera always handy to capture events and moments that I can share to the world. I am techie, yet my tools are not of the newest type (my laptop is the the first netbook ever... try to guess what it is...) but I always keep myself updated. I also love to use applications whether its games, scientific, etc. I just love to discover
As a blogger, I use a lot of sites and connections everyday. I tweet, I plurk, I Mac, I think, therefore I am. Going to events is tiring yet fulfilling as you would meet up with a lot of people everyday. I am also into the comics and cosplay scene which are also techies in their own way as they usually get their materials online and form text clans. Having a phone is great, but having …

Happy 4th of July!

Its the 4th of July which most Americans would celebrate independence day that also means barbecue day! For us Pinoys, its not really big but the government decalres it as the Filipino-American friendship day. Exactly 65 years ago, it was also known that this used to be the independence day of the Philippines. However, since President Macapagal changed it o June 12, the new generation does not really celebrate this day. Call centers with US clients would mean something to them as there would be less calls or even a holiday for some.  Nevertheless, the 4th of July is still something to blog about even in the Philippines. And yes, I do have relatives in the states and I know they are celebrating this one. I hope that when it come to our own independence day, we would be proud and celebrate it to comemorate our history which we also share with the americans.
