Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive.  Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel.  He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler.  But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates.  And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him.

Hintayan Ng Langit - From Stage To Film Makes A Powerful Impression

I have seen this when it was a one-act-play back in 2016.Now one of the competition circle films for QCinema, HInatayan Ng Langit is already an interesting film to look forward to. And having Eddie Garcia and Gina Pareno to play the ex-lovers Manolo and Lisang is a perfect choice.

Set as an interpretation of "purgatory," Hintayan is a place for atonement and closure. Manolo recently passed and was sent here for unfinished business. He meets his ex-lover Lisang who passed 2 years earlier and awaiting clearance on his way to heaven to be with his husband.

As the two have never met in decades, they make use of their remaining time to bond with each other and knowing more about their past. I like the treatment of the film which gave more details and depth to the play. With a lot of details that can be added, I love how they made use of the material to add fun details with the location, the signs, and even the system.

HIV awareness must be made more understandable for young adults

Durex Philippines recently launched its Always Come Prepared
campaign that aims create HIV awareness and help prevent it.
Key organizations--UNAIDS, Love Yourself, and advocates
from the medical field, and Boys Night Out (BNO), joined hands
with Durex on its mission to curb HIV in the country.
(L-R) BNO's Slick Rick, Reckitt Benckiser Read for regulatory
Atty. Ricky Salvador, Sex Therapist Dr. Rica Cruz,
UNAIDS Country Director for the Philippines Dr. Louie Ocampo,
Reckitt Benckiser General Manager Chris Ritchie, Infectious Diseases
Expert Dr. Marion Kwek, Love Yourself and Safe Spaces advocate
Losif Cadelina, and BNO's Toni Tony and Sam YG.
Only 15 percent of young adults aged 15 to 24 years old have knowledge about HIV prevention, a UNAIDS Philippines study showed. The lack of an extensive sex education in the curriculum is seen as a contributing factor—directly or indirectly—to the country’s high HIV growth rate.

Discussions on the human immunodeficiency virus or HIV have always been done in extremes – either it is too technical and clinical or it is peppered with myths and falsehoods – creating a large disconnect with young adults, the audience who matter the most.

“We believe that education is the best way to prevent HIV, especially among the young adults. If they are equipped with the right knowledge about HIV and its potential risks to their health, we believe that they stand a chance in protecting themselves against the chronic disease,” said (Karol Canlas) Durex Philippines (Brand Manager).

Slappy's the Star, Not a Dummy, in "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween"

Moviemakers have lived by the belief that its biggest performers shouldn’t be wooden. But that’s a credo that could be thrown out the window when it comes to the unquestionable star of the Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween: Slappy the Ventriloquist Dummy. Who else could conjure dozens of monsters to wreak ridiculous havoc?

Slappy was first introduced in the 1993 Goosebumps book: Night of the Living Dummy.  R.L. Stine drew inspiration from other authors, including Ray Bradbury and Rod Sterling, but the real idea came from his memories watching a classic fright flick.  Stine says, “Sometime in my childhood I saw an old British movie called Dead of Night, which had three horror stories in it -- one of them was about a ventriloquist whose dummy comes to life and just takes over the ventriloquist’s life and ruins it. And I think was one of my inspirations for Slappy, remembering that old British movie.”

Rampant (2018) - Zombies In The Joseon Era

With the zombie genre getting too saturated with repeated themes and styles, here comes Rampant which brings a whole new perspective of zombies as they make rampage during the old days. Known to be the Joseon Era for Koreans, it is a period of tense politics, struggling stability and tension with the Royal family. Imagine the chaos when a zombie swarm starts to grow at that time.

Produced by Next Entertainment World, who also made the block buster "Train To Busan"takes another shot with the undead and this time having them in the past makes it an interesting story to tackle. Leading the cast is Hyun Bin as Lee Chung the prince who came home from Qing after hearing the news of his brother's death. But he loves Qing more than his home and not interested to be a successor of the King.

However a mysterious sickness has spread which makes the dead rise again and hungry for blood, and it is spreading fast. Prince Lee Chung finds himself trapped with the undead, the political turmoil, and family crisis which could also mean the downfall of the kingdom. Rampant just brought together the complexity of period films with the thrill and excitement of zombie movies. A refreshing concept, yet there still things it can improve on if ever there would be a sequel.

We just need to lend our hands to make this idea a reality. WWF Philippines the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, together with Ayala Malls and other partner corporations, recently launched the #AyokoNgPlastik movement at Glorietta 2 Activity Center.

With eight million tons of plastic ending up in oceans every year, the Philippines ranks as the world’s third plastic polluter of oceans. The #AyokoNgPlastik movement hopes to address these alarming facts by bringing together companies, individuals, and other sectors to minimize and eventually put a stop to single-use plastics such as straws, bags, bottles, and cups. Refusing these is a simple yet strong first step that individuals can take to commit to a sustainable lifestyle, especially since the harm that these materials cause directly affect humans.

He is set to have his first major solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum on November 16 at 8PM. Dubbed as "Higher Than High," the concert elevates expectations and experience for him and the audience.

“It has always been the dream of every artist to stand onstage and scream ‘Good evening, Araneta!’ I’m very excited and nervous at the same time. Excited that finally, I will be performing solo in the Big Dome and nervous because there’s a lot of pressure on me now to fill its seats,” he said.

Jessica Sanchez Back To Perform At Solaire

A big voice in her own right, Jessica Sanchez is back to perform with an edgier look and a sound that is her own. Catch up with the powerhouse voice on November 10, 2018 in her self-entitled concert “Jessica Sanchez with special guest Martin Nievera” happening at The Theatre at Solaire.

Jessica Sanchez’s story is one that begins when a shy 16-year old girl dominated the stage with a voice that can go head-to-head with some of history’s icons. It may seem like she was dealt a lucky card, but behind the curtains, it couldn’t be anywhere near the truth. “I was so young when American Idol happened,” she says. “I learned so much from the show, the people, and the experience afterwards. It prepared me for what was to come, the constant hustle and hard work.”

Born from immigrant parents who have established their lives in the United States and being in one of the world’s most watched singing competitions, one would hear many Filipinos say Jessica Sanchez was living the American dream. Some argued, however, that she was too American to be celebrated by Filipinos, adding the fact that she has never set foot in the Philippines prior her AI stint. But it was this opportunity that helped her touch base with a part of her identity that she has yet to fully discover. “My first time being in the Philippines was for the Idol tour. I was so excited for my first trip to my mom’s homeland. It all happened so fast, but I remember it being full of amazing food, amazing people and amazing moments.” Jessica recalls.
