YouTube announces the return of its NextUp contest in the Philippines to spotlight and support the growth of local up-and-coming YouTube creators. Launched in 2011, YouTube NextUp has helped over 500 creators in more than 13 countries take their channels to the next level, giving them skills, mentorship, and a network to help them create compelling content.

For its third year in the country, 12 Filipino creators will be chosen to participate in the week-long creator camp where they will meet with NextUp alumni and top YouTube stars to learn about production techniques and growing their channels for business. They will also receive mentorship from the YouTube Creator & Artist Development Team team and get P105,000 production voucher for the latest equipment.

13 Philippine Cities Qualify for One Planet City Challenge 2019 – 2020

Thirteen cities from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have successfully met the qualifications to participate in the 2019-2020 edition of World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) One Planet City Challenge (OPCC), following guidelines that were posted earlier this year by the international organization.

The OPCC, once known as the Earth Hour City Challenge (EHCC) when it was first launched in 2011, is a biennial global challenge that recognizes feats of infrastructure, housing, transportation, and mobility enacted by cities in commitment to a low-carbon, climate-resilient future. WWF recognizes the importance and highlights the roles of cities in combatting climate change, with 55% of the human population residing in urban centers and with 70% of global emissions emanating from them.

Saving Flora - A Modern Tale Of Animal Rescue

We hardly get to see live animals in films which in a way makes us more appreciative and more aware of their welfare. Though there have been a lot of movies like for dogs and cats, but how about the biggest mammal on land?

This is what Saving Flora wants to share to movie goers. Made by Synkronized Films, it was written by Mark Taylor and David Moss. It tells the story of a retired circus elephant named Flora, which due to old age, illness, and other costs, drove its owner and ringmaster Henry (David Arquette) to consider putting the animal down. 

However since the act would break the heart of her daughter Dawn, played by Jenna Ortega. Because the elephant was very important for her, this triggered her to find a way to save the elephant by escaping the circus and go for miles until they will find a shelter or sanctuary for Flora. The journey becomes an adventure of the lifetime and even meeting a new friend on the way, and a hunter thirsty to get her as his trophy.

Singer-songwriter Mark Oblea is back with a new sound with his latest single 'Ain't It Lovely.'

Ain't It Lovely delves further into Oblea's exploration of the alternative pop genre, being a love song that features more of a folk sound than his previous outings. His rendition of Paraluman's classic song 'Tabi' has garnered over 3.7 million plays on the streaming platform Spotify.

The Conjuring Universe headliners Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren in New Line Cinema’s new horror thriller “Annabelle Comes Home.” 

Wilson says he and co-star Farmiga “love playing these roles because we know we’re going to get to do some high drama with some high level scares, dealing with some pretty dark things, but also find all those moments to show that other side to this couple.  In this film especially, our part is largely that of loving parents to Judy.”

Angkas Is Gearing Up For Pilot Run With Training And Safety Measures

After so many months of stalling and controversies, Angkas finally got the green light to resume operations but has to go through a government-sanctioned six-month pilot run in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. The run aims to show the government how Angkas provides and additional transportation options for the very congested metro.

They currently have 27,000 biker-partners that mostly depend on the service to provide for their families. When Angkas was put on hold, they and their families were very affected as income became more scarce. But with the persistence of the Angkas management and government agencies like the DoTr and LTFRB, they agreed on a 6 month pilot run which will be assessed if they will pass safety and efficiency standards that will be the basis of giving it a permanent permit to operate.

In real-life, Reid was John’s first long-term boyfriend, as well as being his manager for 28, often turbulent, years. “We cast Richard just before Bodyguard came out,” says producer David Furnish. “But when I saw him in that (before release), it was a powerful, riveting performance. He had that smoldering Scottish sexiness about him that just seemed so perfect for the way John Reid is portrayed in this film.”
