DUNE PART TWO - Power Comes From The Sands

Finally saw the Dune movie adaptation but started with Part 2, yet I still got the gist of how this universe works and the complex characters and world building made by Frank Herbert. And from many reviews, Dune Part One is critically acclaimed for its ensemble of great actors, production, and also an expansive movie franchise lead by its director Denis Villeneuve.

Dune Part Two continues the struggle of Paul Atreides (Timothée), to learn the ways of the dessert planet Arrakis which is known for its "spice" production and coveted by the empire. Here we see the path of having the prophesized leader by the Fremmen (Lisan al-Gaib) is coming true with Paul. His rise to power and influence along with his mother now called Reverend Mother, rises tensions across the planet along with its citizens and warrior tribes.

Though I have not watched the first film, the lore and intricacies of part two opened my curiosity about Dune which led me to watch videos about the story of Dune and the possible future they would make. The aesthetics of the film may involve a lot of sand and desert but seeing it on IMAX gives its more justice in understanding the movie.

Dune: Part Two acclaimed by critics as blockbuster masterpiece, debuting with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score.

Rave reviews are flowing in as critics praise Dune: Part Two, Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated action spectacle. With a 97% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the critics’ consensus is that Dune: Part Two is visually thrilling and narratively epic.

Continuing the streak from its predecessor, Dune: Part Two lands with a success for reviewers. The Independent writes, “Dune: Part Two, like its predecessor, is a work of total sensory and imaginative immersion.” Total Film adds the movie to the hall of beloved sequels, saying, “However you cut it, Villeneuve wrangles coherence from Herbert’s unruly elements to deliver a sequel that ranks alongside The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back – and Blade Runner 2049.”

Meet the women of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One.

Franchise veteran Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Ilsa Faust, says that of the three Mission movies she’s starred in so far, Dead Reckoning Part One has seen her pull off her most impactful action sequences. “What’s the point in doing a Mission movie if you’re not going to do the odd stunt?” she says. “I think one of the reasons why Mission is such a love of my life is the training. It’s not knowing what I’m in for in the next film. I love the fact that you never know what is going to be asked of your character to train. Whether it is a knife fight or a gun fight or martial arts or perhaps a sword fight, which was introduced in this [film] for me.”

Rebecca Ferguson Seduces as the Sinister Villain in "Doctor Sleep"

Swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Fallout”) portrays what director Mike Flanagan claims as “one of the best Stephen King antagonists in many, many years, Rose the Hat” in the horror/suspense film, “Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep” (now in Philippine cinemas).

The film continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel in Kubrick’s “The Shining.”

Rose the Hat leads the quasi-immortal cult known as the True Knot, who have powered their elongated lives by victimizing children with the shine—“steam” as it emerges from their bodies—which is devoured by Rose and her followers. The former humans continue to move through existence, unnoticed, imitating humans, predators mimicking prey. However, the modern world—with its diversions, complications and shortcuts to adulthood—has dulled children’s shine, leaving the True Knot with fewer substantial sources of sustenance. For the first time in eons, they are hungry and their future is in question.

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace.  But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.”  Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

King Arthur's Half Sister Morgana Portrayed By Rebecca Ferguson In The Movie For The Whole Family “THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING”

Filled with action, humour and heart, Joe Cornish’s “The Kid Who Would Be King” is a thrilling adventure for the young and the young at heart.  Based on one of the most famous myths of all time, THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING approaches the legend of King Arthur and his knights in a completely new way, bringing it into the modern world and making it relevant for contemporary audiences.

The heart of the film is based on the chivalric code that the wizard Merlin teaches young Arthur in the legend.  This is the set of laws that King Arthur’s knights abided by, which dictated earnest moral behavior – honoring the people you love, persevering, refraining from offense and telling the truth.  In the film, Cornish takes that moral code and applies it to modern kids, to see what its value is in today’s world.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout -- Intense Action From Many Heights

It is already the 6th time Tom Cruise played the international spy Ethan Hunt and the question is always what is new for the latest franchise of the espionage flick. It turns out that there are still more to look forward to. Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Ethan Hunt is at it again after so many complications with his organization, the IMF. Also got into more international turmoil with Rouge Nation, now gets entangled with the CIA for a mission that also rocks his personal life. The dilemma now for this film is the rise of the so called "Apostles" who will avenge the capture of their leader Solomon Lane who was the main villain in the last movie.

This time is also the introduction of Henry Cavil as August Walker who works with the CIA and is ordered to be with Hunt all the time. And this role is the reason why Cavil kept his mustache which was edited out in Justice League. But even with the scruff look, he made a good impression with his skills in combat, and espionage.
