The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the whole world to drastically change its old ways. Most of its population went into isolation to flatten the curve. In the Philippines, Luzon has been placed under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which meant limited mobility and fewer options for most people since businesses were closed down. 

Since everyone is affected by a general anxiety of contracting the coronavirus, private citizens have also imposed upon themselves to observe safer and more hygienic practices to avoid transmission of the disease. While these were once deemed “alternatives” before the pandemic struck, they are sure to remain in the post-COVID world as part of the new normal.

Warner Bros.’ epic adventure “Dune” has revealed a brand new image, this time showing Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides in deep training for what lies ahead.

Director Denis Villeneuve tells of the film’s hero Atreides: “His survival depends on being able to make the right decisions and adapt to different dangerous situations. It's a very beautiful story about someone that becomes empowered.  Like any young adult he is looking for his identity and trying to understand his place in the world, and he will have to do things that none of his ancestors were able to do in order to survive. He has a beautiful quality of being curious about other people, of having empathy, something that will attract him towards other cultures, and that's what will save his life.”

Chalamet, Brolin Are Desert-Bound in New "Dune" Image

Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides is mesmerised by the desert in a newly released image from Warner Bros.’ epic adventure “Dune,” in Philippine cinemas January 2021.

The new photo shows Paul (Chalamet) and his weapons teacher Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin) in an ornithopter as it goes airborne.

Director Denis Villeneuve provided some insights on the new image, sharing, “It’s Paul’s first contact with the deep desert, where he’s mesmerised by it. He has a strange feeling of being home. There’s a lot of action at this specific moment, and [it’s] one of the scenes in the movie that I’m starting to get pretty proud of.”

NBl, GCash charges 3 suspects with cybercrime, estafa

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested three individuals in Quezon City for violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act and Estafa, after they swindled money from hapless victims, whose identities were also stolen. The arrests were made possible with the assistance of GCash, the leading mobile wallet in the Philippines.
