Timeless Classic “Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag" Now A Musical!

Making a musical is never easy, but the ambition could lead to another classic in Philippine entertainment. Maynila Sa Kuko Ng Liwanag, anovel by by Edgardo M. Reyes and made more popular with its film adaptation by Lino Broka carved its mark in Filipino culture. In the new millennium, a theatrical adaptation will bring this the experience to the millennia generations.

This adaptation is brought by Grand Leisure Corporation and like their name, they want to make it grand and memorable with the cast and crew. Award-winning director Joel Lamangan, known for his thought provoking films like  “The Flor Contemplacion Story,” “Hubog,” and “Bulaklak Ng Maynila” , Lamangan's passion can bring out the essence of the story. Desepite being known as a film director, he has experience in directing theatrical plays like the musical “Katipunan: Mga Anak ng Bayan” in 2013.

Adapted from the novel by Thomas Cullinan, The Beguiled is a sexually charged tale that unfolds during the Civil War, at a Southern girls’ boarding school. Its sheltered young women take in an injured enemy soldier (Farrell). As they provide refuge and tend to his wounds, the house is taken over with sexual tension and dangerous rivalries, and taboos are broken in an unexpected turn of events.
