From The Conjuring 2, Valak was introduced as the wicked spirit that haunted an family and their home, dates back with a very dark beginning. Dating back to Romania after the world war, Valak ironically lurks inside a secluded monastery where people fear the evil that lurks beneath the stones and walls. With a recent incident that prompted the Vatican to take action. They sent Father Burke, and Sister Irene to the secretive monastery to investigate the death of one of sisters.
