Young Cocoa celebrates a tale of two cities in new song “Fadeaway”

The sophisticated, hip-hop track will be part of his upcoming EP, Sari Sari

Filipino hip-hop artist Young Cocoa expresses great respect and honor to the two places that he calls home in a crossover track bursting with lush sounds and sophisticated melodies.

His new single “Fadeaway” serves as a love letter to Manila and Jakarta—two culturally distinct but vibrant cities that cultivated his upbringing and sense of self through the years.

Young Cocoa explains, “Fadeaway is about celebrating my two homes, Jakarta and Manila. I wanted to try and integrate my experiences into the song and translate it into a message where I take pride in owning both places that I truly call home.”

Filipino rapper-producer Young Cocoa revisits his experiences of growing up in Jakarta on "J-TOWN (PM)"—his new single via pan-regional label, OFFMUTE.

According to the prolific young artist, "J-TOWN (PM)" maps a pivotal moment in his life where he embraced the joys and pains of living in a multicultural city, pursued his goals and dreams, and met people with diverse backgrounds.

"The song is about how I feel about Jakarta," Young Cocoa reflects. "It’s not so much a nostalgic visit as it is one where I express how much impact the city has had on me."

Singaporean musician and singer-songwriter Sezairi teams up with rising Filipino rapper Young Cocoa for the slinky R&B jam “Dead.” 

The track, which follows the release of Young Cocoa’s bossa-meets-rap ditty “Nova” and Sezairi’s streaming hit “Restless Love,” is produced by Canadian hiphop/electronic producer duo Potatohead People. It also comes with a visualizer that expands on the song’s theme with a moody, melancholic touch.

After landing on several high-profile playlists curated by some of the biggest names in K-Pop, Filipino singer-songwriter/producer Young Cocoa returns with “Nova,” his new single under pan-regional label, OFFMUTE. 

Incorporating a bossa nova sample as foundation for the rest of the beat, the prolific hip-hop artist raps about young love with awe-inspiring giddiness, and delivers one of the breeziest crossover tunes to come out in a while.

The smooth bop was produced by Cavill, who captured the energy of the lyrics with undeniable ease. It will be part of his upcoming debut EP to be released in the latter part of 2022.

Handpicked by the members of the Korean supergroup, the new edition of the fashion house playlist includes an esteemed selection of upbeat and summery tunes from Justin Bieber, Yerin Baek, 5 Seconds of Summer, and more.
