REEL DEAL: Scarlett Johannson's Softie Yet Toughie Role WE BOUGHT A ZOO

In Cameron Crowe’s inspiring new film,” We Bought A Zoo,” Scarlett Johansson plays Kelly Foster, a plucky and hard working young woman who is dedicated to her job as a zoo keeper and passionate about the animals in her care.

Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) buys the zoo, Rosemoor Animal Park, in order to give his family a fresh start in life. His wife Katherine has recently died and he is looking for a new direction for himself and his two young children.  Running and restoring a dilapidated zoo is ostensibly an odd choice and Mee definitely takes on more than he bargained for. With the help of an eclectic staff  and with an assortment of adventures along the way, the family works to return the run down zoo to its former glory and to heal their own pain.

Q: What type of woman is Kelly in this movie?
A: “Kelly is incredibly driven and focused. She has dedicated her entire life to her job and she actually says in the film,  ‘I don't have a life,  this is my whole life. I come here from morning to night and my friends are out enjoying themselves with different guys and going to bars.  I don't do any of that stuff.’

Q: What was the appeal and challenge of this character for you?
A: “What I love about   Kelly is that she’s so totally matter of fact.  There’s nothing about her that’s vindictive.  She doesn’t really want anything from anybody except for an honest day’s work and I appreciate that sentiment. I have never had the opportunity to really play a girl who’s very pure and straightforward in her thinking.”

Reel Deal: Young Stars Shine in Fox's Family Films

Innately talented young actors Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Elle Fanning, Colin Ford, Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller shine brightly on their own footing in upcoming movies from 20th Century Fox – “We Bought A Zoo” and “The Descendants.”

In We Bought A Zoo starring Matt Damon and directed by Cameron Crowe – Elle Fanning, Maggie Elizabeth Jones and Colin Ford take turns in keeping that familial warmth of the movie where Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) buys a house with a zoo in order to give his family a fresh start in life. What begins as a rather impulsive fantasy turns into a daunting life-changing journey that is exciting, emotionally taxing, exceedingly labor intensive, often hilarious but ultimately more rewarding than even he could have ever imagined.

DepEd opens special classes in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan

After the disaster of Sendong, the new year may start with hope of education to recover from storm. The Department of Education has made preparations for the opening of schools today in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City after the Christmas break and in the aftermath of typhoon Sendong which devastated a big swatch of Northern Mindanao.

Education Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro FSC said however that some schools will not hold regular classes yet but instead use alternative delivery mode of lessons. In some schools, school heads will focus more on stress debriefing and play therapy in affected divisions. “We have to respond to the immediate needs of both teachers and students and for now, it is important that we introduce activities that will bring back normalcy in their lives,” the education chief said.

Watch Out 2012 !

Its 2012 now and MTL is cooking up something new this year.  I know that many are frustrated in making new year resolutions that will end up in failure. However I do look at it at a different way, making them GOALS. In this way there is a process to be followed, a way to monitor if it is improving or not. And this is what I am doing this year for my future project especially for MTL and the other blogs.
And this year I think will be a year with more video blogs and features incorporated to written blog post. I am also considering podcast however people prefer looking at videos rather than listening to voice audio.

And yes, were cooking up two projects for 2012 which I have announced last year and still in the works to provide a quality output. Presenting Juan Minute and Okra Soup! Two short video shows with different  formats, one for live interviews and another for satiric comedy. Though Juan Minute was originally planned for 2011, my video experiments were the way for gauge and come up with techniques and how stitch them all together. I feel inspired to do this because of my readers like you who made the year and the blog wonderful.

For the meantime I had a video made for the new year... enjoy!

MTL Year Ender Report 2011!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

MTL has been truly blessed this year with growing number of readers, new design, own domain, and more events that brought so many things and experiences.

Now that we are near 2012, lets look back on the higlights of MTL this 2011, but lets make it concise since we don't have all year. First is that MTL has increased in post due to the events and news it featured almost everyday. Which made me very busy yet very satisfied with the results.

I also encountered a lot of out of town trips like Baguio, Pampanga, Batangas, Quezon and Pangasinan. I also got a chance to be a speaker 2 times this year at Miriam College and the ICT Congress in Pangasinan.  I covered the Panagbenga festival last February with high school friends. Went to Pampanga for the CHEERS tour in Lubao and Sasmuan River Cruise. Had 3 day stay at Quezon for the BonPen Festival.

This was also a year of video blog documenting my experiences which goes well with blog posts. MTL gets bigger and better this 2012 with more projects, more surprizes and more things keep you glued and tuned to MTL. Join us as we declare 2012 as the year of success!

Happy New Year from Manual To Lyf!

MUSIC LYF: 90s MUSIC COMES ALIVE - The Grand Launch at Megaworld Lifestyle Malls

What do you remember most about the 90s? Gadgets like the Discman on which you listened to music, the Tamagotchi which served as your pet, wore MSR Snowshoes or those big cellular phones? Was it the movies, like when you watched “Titanic” three times (or more ), got “Clueless” with Alicia Silverstone, or melted over the line “You had me at ‘hello’,” from “Jerry Maguire”? Or was it the TV shows, like when you got hooked on “Friends”, “Beverly Hills 90210,” or “Melrose Place”? Or was it the music? Of course, there has to be music.

That is why MCA Music, in cooperation with Samsung’s ultimate MP3 evolution, the Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0, gives tribute to the music that defined a generation via the album “90s Music Comes Alive,” featuring MCA artists’ take on hits from the 90s. It is bannered by “Unbelievable,” an EMF original given new life by one of the country’s top bands, Chicosci.
