Akbayan: Duterte’s ICC challenge is a hollow bluff – but we're ready to take him up on it

Akbayan Partylist Rep. Perci Cendaña has called former President Rodrigo Duterte’s latest dare to the International Criminal Court (ICC) an empty bluff, vowing that Akbayan stands ready to bring Duterte to justice at the ICC following his bold remarks at the recent House Quad Committee hearing.

When asked if he would cooperate with the ICC’s investigation, Duterte dismissed the need for delay, urging the ICC to begin the probe “as soon as tomorrow.” He even quipped that the Quad Committee should fund his trip to the ICC.

In response, Cendaña affirmed that they are willing to call Duterte's bluff and ensure he faces the ICC.

Kim Ji Soo Nominated at The Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival

South Korean actor Kim Ji Soo has been nominated at the Ima Wa Ima Asian International Film Festival and Entertainment Special Awards 2024 for the Outstanding International Actor in a Cross-Cultural Series award for his remarkable performance in the hit GMA show Abot Kamay Na Pangarap.

Kim Ji Soo, who made his acting debut on stage in 2009 and starred in several K-Dramas, surprised everyone when he made a special appearance on the GMA primetime show Black Rider in June 2024.  After that, it didn’t take long before he became part of another show on GMA, the afternoon medical drama Abot Kamay Na Pangarap.

Playing a doctor and the love interest of the character of lead star Jillian Ward, Ji Soo was able to showcase his acting talent in the show through a variety of scenes, from dramatic to romantic, and even action. He may have joined the long-running show just last August 2024 but his lovable character and onscreen chemistry with Jillian proved to be a hit with the show’s fans. In fact, he made it all the way to the show’s finale, his character ending up with the protagonist.

Akbayan to Duterte: Your antics won’t work in Congress

Akbayan Partylist Representative Perci Cendaña brushed aside as empty threats former president Rodrigo Duterte’s intention to intimidate the House Quad Committee members as the body announced that it would continue its hearing on Wednesday. The legislator, who has recently joined the House Committee on Human Rights and by extension the QuadComm, said Duterte’s usual antics would no longer work with the House of Representatives.

“Kung sinubukan niyang lusubin ang Senado, hindi niya ‘yan magagawa sa Kongreso. We’ll make sure to utilize the committee hearing to ferret out the truth,” according to Cerdaña.

“We hope to use his arrogance against him. Sa sobrang lasing niya sa kayabangan sa Senate hearing, hinukay niya ang sarili niyang libingan. His unrestrained display of bravado dug his own political grave,” Cendaña said.

‘Bawal Judgemental Bill’ prohibits strict dress codes for citizens availing of frontline services

Akbayan Representative Perci Cendaña filed House Bill 11078 or the ‘Bawal Judgemental’ Bill pushing for accessibility of marginalized communities who wish to make simple transactions with gov’t offices that offer frontline services. According to Rep. Cendaña, strict dress codes that have no relation to the frontline services being accessed only end up discriminating against the poor and indigenous communities.

“Sadly, yung policy na strict na dresscodes ay nagreresulta sa pagtataboy sa mga marginalized communities. Gusto natin tanggalin yung pagiging judgemental sa dress or attire lalo na kung hindi naman konektado sa nasabing serbisyo yung pananamit,” according to Rep. Cendaña.

CICC, DICT warn of fake data breaches on Dark Web Forums

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) eGov Development Team are advising cybersecurity enthusiasts to exercise caution when reviewing data breach information on the Breach Forums, as highlighted by the recent fake eGovPH hack post.

CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos revealed that the alleged eGovPH data breach in the Breach Forums is nothing more than a fake hacking claim.

“The Breach Forums user named GR3GGM3RC3R we are investigating who claimed to hack the eGovPH app is a scammer and not a real hacker. He's attempting to defraud forum members by falsely claiming possession of sensitive data,” Ramos said.
