REEL DEAL Movies and Television: Vampires Suck Spotlight

CHRIS RIGGI FOR TEAM JACOB IN “VAMPIRES SUCK”
He’s über-zealous in buffing up – that’s because Chris Riggi is playing Jacob in the upcoming comedy “Vampires Suck” inspired by the cult teen phenomenon on vampires and falling in love.  Riggi’s Jacob immediately notices Becca (Jenn Proske), the new girl in town but Becca notices Edward Sullen (Matt Lanter) more.  As Jacob persuades Becca not to associate with the Sullens, he is at the same time undergoing a strange transformation of his own that has him peeing on hydrants, chasing stray cats and sporting a wolf tail from the seat of his pants.
As Jacob’s name is synonymous with a perfect-carved bod, Riggi has displayed an intense dedication in working out and has definitely achieved tremendous results – such that the audience will be treated to a better-looking Jacob version in the movie.  Riggi earned mainstream consciousness in his recurring role as Scott in the hit television series “Gossip Girl.”  Coming from an artistic family plus his experience on roles from television and theater, producer Peter Safran did not look any further when Riggi submitted his audition cd.  “Fans of the genre know that six-pack-abs are a werewolf’s most important physical trait, and by the time principal photography began he was in peak physical condition and had packed on twelve pounds of pure muscle,” producer Peter Safran notes.
Riggi adds:  “To play a werewolf fans would have fun with, I had to be in peak physical condition. I had only a little more than a month to prepare for the role, so I began an intense training period. The hardest thing was giving up the foods I enjoy. It felt like I was only eating wood chips and cardboard. But the role required a specific look. It was tiring but I was really happy with the results.”
The role of the werewolf also required Riggi to undergo a time-consuming make-up process that included complex prosthetic devices. “Initially, it took five hours to apply all the make-up and prosthetics but that time was greatly reduced as we got accustomed to the process,” Riggi explains. “It takes a certain amount of concentration to focus on the role and be prepared to go in front of the camera with that kind of preparation. Plus I had to do sets of dumbbell curls while all that was going on. It was a new experience for me.”
“Vampires Suck” opens August 25 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Vampires SUCK!

JENN PROSKE – VERY BELLA IN EVERY WAY

There’s a new Bella in town - a.k.a. Becca in the upcoming spoof comedy “Vampires Suck” from geniuses Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who gave us the laugh-out loud parodies “Scary Movie,” “Date Movie” and “Meet the Spartans.”

Becca, played by Jenn Proske stars in the all-tangled love triangle opposite Matt Lanter , Chris Riggi and Ken Jeong (“Hangover”). In a recent interview with buzzbox.com, Proske revealed that she’s Team Edward but she still has strong feelings for Jacob. “I kind of feel a little bit of pressure because I play Becca, the Bella character. Plus, Matt Lanter who plays Edward looks good on set! Matt was amazing. I had never been on camera before and was nervous that whoever I was working with would judge me. He was so willing to teach me tips and was so friendly. We hang out all the time but we’re just friends,” Proske gushes.

Jenn definitely nailed every bit of Bella’s character such that after one major audition, she immediately got called in for “Vampires Suck.” This is by far her first major audition after graduating from Boston University at 2009, though Jenn relates that she was I originally got called in for Alice Cullen, but knew that she wasn’t quite right for the role. “I knew I felt the Kristen Stewart role more so I had to go in 7 or 8 times,” recalls Jenn.

Asked what’s in store for the Twilight fans and Twi-haters in “Vampires Suck” – “There’s something for everyone in this movie! Everything is done in a very funny way and I think it’s hysterical!” Jen says.

“Vampires Suck” opens August 25 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

1GOAL! Football and Education!

Education beats poverty. That’s why, for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, some of football’s greatest players are joining together with VSO, other 1GOAL partners and millions of people from across the globe. We have one goal: to help the 72 million children around the world who are missing out on a primary education get one.

They will be presenting the 1GOAL petition to the world’s leaders in New York in September. It urges them to follow through on the promise they made in 2000, through the Millennium Development Goals, to provide universal education. Add your name now and hold them to their promise to give every child a chance to go to school.

Now it needs your help to refer your family and friends to support the cause. We know for a fact that many are dire need of basic education as a mean to emancipate from poverty. It would not take a long time, just a few minutes to register and you have made a big difference. So you don't have to be rich to help others in the quest for education for all. Philippine Six Sigma Conference 2010

Fiera de Manila, in cooperation with Center for Lean Systems and Management (De La Salle University), International Alliance of Quality Professionals (IAQP), and Digileaf, Inc., is organizing the Philippine Six Sigma Conference 2010 at Hotel Intercontinental Makati City this August 4 and 5, 2010.

As an Industrial Engineering student, I find this one important with my field as it deals with what I will be working in the future. I do love knowing how things work and how its made, now Six Sigma, a process used by many companies worldwide adapted this method to further increase productivity and also efficiency. However, this one can also be applied to the fields of studied sciences. As a blogger, efficiency is very important in many ways. As a person, this method can be applied to our daily routines and also promote success to the one who follows this.
I hope to be part of this event since this will definitely help me meet people and know more information. And even I am still a student, knowing these things and being exposed to them will be a big help. Hope you will join too. I do thank Janet Torral for sharing this one to me and hope to attend.

Globe Telecom's Advisory on Typhoon Basyang

***************

Globe Telecom is working to fully restore telecommunication service in selected areas in Luzon and Metro Manila which were affected by the prolonged commercial power outage. A significant part of our network has been restored in full, save for isolated areas in Metro Manila and Luzon.

While we augment our power supply with batteries and generator sets for our cell sites and wired line cabinets, these sources have limited life spans, and commercial power has been out since Tuesday night.

We appeal to the power utilities to expedite the restoration of power, to make available all types of Globe services to our subscribers.

'Basyang' Fierce Stories...

So after the torturing heat wave during summer, we were very desperate to have rain. However,  with sudden rainfalls in some areas it brought more bane than boon. And this time we have this new typhoon named 'Basyang' whose winds crated havoc especially with the electricity in the metro. President Noy talked to the weather officials that did not anticipate the damage it will bring to the metro. So far operations of the LRT and MRT have been suspended, but number coding has been lifted. Many homes still don't have electricity  and there were a lot of reports of damages such as uprooted trees and posts, blown roofs and tarpulins and other debris. Classes are suspended yet CHED says suspension for tertiary level is upon the discretion of the school administration. I actually stayed in the office to sleep and do some online stuff. I will not be able to cook since I use a rice cooker. For now, I am still checking on news for any other incidents and accidents caused by the typhoon so stay tuned.

For now, I think we were caught off guard that this storm was not on its way to the city but had a wide radius with strong winds. Since its already the rainy season, we should not take typhoons lightly again. So far I only get my news from the internet and any available TV source since my phone have that function. Again guys, stay safe, pray, and make sure to do all measures to avoid incidents that can damage properties or injure lives.

I'll be updating you for any additional information about the storm...
