LRMC promotes food sustainability through MPIF’s Bayan Tanim

In its continued thrust to uplift and empower the lives of Filipinos as well as to promote food sustainability, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), in partnership with Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), distributed agricultural starter kits to communities in Pasay and Manila for the Bayan Tanim campaign.

Evoking the spirit of bayanihan in facing the challenges brought about by the new normal, as well as the advocacy of sustainable living and trend of maintaining home gardens, LRMC sponsored 100 crates of tomato, squash, sitaw, ampalaya and talong seeds and seedlings for beneficiaries in       Brgy. 190 in Pasay City and Brgy. 659A in Manila.

The Story of "POBLACION"

“Pour me a drink,

Make sure it’s your strongest one

it’s funny, people drink to forget…

I drink to remember…”

I remember, the streets were quiet then…

and conversations mattered.”

I have lived in Poblacion since 2007. I was fresh out of college then, newly moved out from under my parents roof… sidelining as a teacher, part-time medical equipment salesperson, and working in a restaurant… and oh yes my favourite sideline, singing for a hard rock band in one of the original Poblacion spots… Back then, I was a leather boot wearing, ripped jeans rockin’ tangled hair wailing little woman. I never got tired. I never got sick of the noise I could sleep through the flashes of neon lights from neighbouring bars…  That was then, I can’t say the same for today.

AC Health, 917Ventures urge doctors nationwide to embrace telehealth

The pandemic has fully disrupted healthcare in the Philippines. Thousands nationwide are unable to visit medical centers given the risks, the social distancing measures in place, and even the lack of transportation available. As such, Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (AC Health), the healthcare arm of the Ayala Group, and 917Ventures, a wholly-owned corporate incubator of Globe, are urging doctors nationwide to embrace telehealth to address the primary healthcare needs of patients.

Many doctors are also struggling to find the chance to talk to patients face-to-face. Thus, Paolo Borromeo, AC Health President and CEO, said it is time for medical practitioners to explore telehealth services like HealthNow to reach their patients faster, easier, and in a more convenient and safe manner.

Dey Rose debunks conformity on new EP, Panting Heart

Vancouver-based Filipina singer-songwriter Dey Rose maintains a gripping sense of vulnerability on her debut EP, Panting Heart—released on all digital platforms worldwide via Lilystars Records.

Intricately written and produced to capture a sound of lasting resonance and warmth, the 6-track record blends jazz-infused pop with folk, country, blues, prog rock, ’70s soul, and R&B, while exploring fascinating new directions in terms of arrangements and lyrics. With an eclectic selection of songs grounded in evocative storytelling, the Baguio-born musician presents a snapshot of confessional intimacy in the time of restlessness and paranoia, freeing herself from the conformity of others and social expectations.

The EP’s focus single “Di Mo Lang Alam” is inspired by the stories of new friends Dey Rose met in the Philippines. Its smooth, jazzy runs and suave rhythms swoop and slide effortlessly in the background, while the Filipina-Canadian artist’s mesmerizing vocals take the center stage in a rejuvenating light. It’s easily one of the best songs in the record, a balm of sunshine that conceals its very brooding narrative with a tale of caution and hope.
