The Philippine Play Coalition is inviting families, organizations to join National Play Advocacy Week 2020

Together, let’s Make Play Happen for Every Child even during this pandemic

Play is essential to a child’s holistic health, and each of us can do our part that every child gets to exercise their right to play.

The National Play Advocacy Week (NPAW), happening on November 16 to 22, is a week dedicated to highlighting the right of every child to play, and its importance to their holistic wellbeing. This initiative is led and organized by the Philippine Play Coalition (PPC), a network of child-focused organizations, Council for the Welfare of Children, Unilab Foundation, World Vision, Tukod Foundation, Educo Philippines, Unang Hakbang Foundation, and Kythe Foundation. PPC is also supported by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Youth Commission (NYC).

JC Stewart's Debut EP "When The Light Hits The Room" Is Out Now

JC Stewart’s collab with 220 Kid, ‘Too Many Nights’, has kept the young artist’s profile riding high as he looks set to become one of 2021’s biggest breakthrough artists. Now JC shares his eagerly anticipated debut EP ‘When The Light Hits The Room’, which is out now via Warner Records. It opens with the new single ‘Rest Of My Life’. JC wrote the EP with the BRIT and Ivor Novello Award winner Tom Odell.

The duo’s creative connection resulted in four thematically linked songs, which set emotive stories of the growing pains of young adulthood to songs that balance immediately addictive pop hooks with heartfelt reflection. JC then recorded the EP with the Grammy-nominated producer Two Inch Punch (Rex Orange County, Sam Smith, Rag N Bone Man).

World Vision mounts humanitarian response for families affected by typhoon Ulysses

Following its exit from the Philippine landmass, Typhoon Ulysses (international name Vamco) leaves the entire Luzon grid, including Metro Manila, heavily battered and inundated due to destructive winds and raging flood.

"It is heartbreaking to see photos of children and their families seeking safer ground due to the massive flooding. Ulysses has also caused further damage to the already Rolly-stricken communities in the Bicol Region, where World Vision is currently doing an emergency response," says Rommel Fuerte, World Vision Development Foundation National Director.

Pau Palacio releases new single featuring Khel Pangilinan

Not So Famous’ girl next door Pau Palacio drops new single called “Sa Taas,” a collaboration with Khel Pangilinan.

The modern love song revolves around different meanings based on how the listener interprets the song.

“As for me, I always don’t give direct meaning as I think it gives out the mystery and art of the song,” says Pau.

For the 20-year-old artist, “Sa Taas” is a labor of love along with the record label and Khel, who inspired her in many ways.

“I am so excited for everyone to hear it because my team and I poured so much love for it. I am very blessed to be surrounded by talented people--my team and my label--who inspired me and guided me to figure out my own voice and sound,” she says. “I learned a lot through this process especially from Michael (Pangilinan).”

Smart provides free data to over 12m subscribers in areas hit by Typhoon Ulysses

To provide vital communication services in the aftermath of Typhoon Ulysses, PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications is giving free data and text/call credits to over 12 million affected Smart and TNT customers in Metro Manila and Luzon.

It had earlier provided similar efforts to customers in Southern Luzon, impacted by Super Typhoon Rolly. Sun Prepaid subscribers, which were recently rebranded to Smart Prepaid, also received the free credits.

"We will implement all viable means to support our countrymen and keep customers connected during these times," says PLDT-Smart FVP & Group Head, Corporate Communications Cathy Yap-Yang. "Our goal is to keep everyone connected, as we restore telco services disrupted by the passage of typhoons."

Let's help our kababayans affected by Typhoon Ulysses and Rolly!

With the onslaught of consecutive typhoons Rolly and Ulysses that ravaged many areas in Luzon and the Visayas over the past few weeks, many families have lost their homes, belongings, and even their loved ones.

To help raise funds for immediate typhoon relief and rescue efforts, several organizations have started accepting donations through PayMaya for initiatives that will help deliver food, clothing, shelter, and other forms of assistance to beneficiaries in typhoon-hit areas.
