Jardine Distribution Inc.and Star Parks Corporation partners for an Anti-Zika and Dengue Campaign

The World Health Organization (WHO) has already declared zika as a public health emergency of international concern. Recently, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed the seventeenth (17th) Zika case in the Philippines.

Zika virus is transmitted by Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes – the same mosquito specie that caused dengue, chikungunya and other diseases, with symptoms that are relatively mild. Although zika is caused by the same mosquito specie, it is believed to be more alarming than dengue and chikungunya and highly risky for pregnant women as it is found out to cause microcephaly in infants.

DOH urged the public to be more vigilant against zika and dengue-carrying mosquitoes and stressed the need to strengthen community efforts to prevent the spread of Zika virus locally: search and destroy all possible mosquito breeding sites, use insect repellents and mosquito nets to protect themselves from mosquitoes that may carry the disease and conduct spray fogging regularly to reduce mosquito density, among others. These controls must be practiced not only inside the house but more so, when in outdoor environment like parks and resort.

Thus, last October 1-2, 2016, Jardine Distribution, Inc. (JDI), in cooperation with Star City, initiated an anti-zika and dengue campaign activity, where JDI gave away for free, Zap All-Knockdown Multi-Insect Killer (ZAP AP MIK) to Star City visitors, and encouraged them to use ZAP to eliminate all mosquitoes in their respective houses. ZAP is a multi-insect killer duly registered and approved by the Food and Drugs Administration of the Philippines. Star Parks Corporation, in turn, reiterated its commitment to destroy all breeding sites at the park and use Zap at its office on site.

“Jardine Distribution, Inc. partners with different organizations to raise awareness on the importance of protecting our family from the dengue and zika-carrying mosquitoes.  We are privileged to have partnered with Star City in educating the public on the importance of clean and sanitized environment, and on how ZAP can protect us from mosquitoes that carry the dengue or zika virus,” said Cai Ildefonso, Product Manager of JDI.
