James Cameron’s “Avatar” heads back to Philippine cinemas for a limited run

Relive the global phenomenon that changed the movie-going experience as James Cameron’s Academy Award®-winning epic adventure “Avatar” returns to Philippine cinemas.  Moviegoers will experience the film like never before as a remastered version in 2D and 3D formats will be available for a limited run.

First released in 2009, “Avatar” tells the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet called ‘Pandora’ filled with exotic life forms in the year 2154. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the Na’vi. He meets and falls in love with the Na’vi Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and opens his eyes to the destruction the humans are wreaking on Pandora, and sides with the Na’vi to protect their world from human hands.

The film successfully transports its audience–then and now–from the darkened theaters to Pandora itself through the use of groundbreaking and innovative motion capture techniques and visual effects that brought the blue world and Na’vi to life in 3D. It’s a truly immersive experience without comparison.

Written and directed by Academy Award® winner James Cameron, “Avatar” stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver. The film was produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau. Nominated for nine Academy Awards® including Best Picture and Best Director, the film won three Oscars®, for Best Cinematography, Production Design, and Visual Effects.

Best seen in cinemas, watch and relive "Avatar," the film that started it all and get all set for the release of the franchise's anticipated sequel, "Avatar: The Way of Water" this December.
