REEL DEAL: Kaya Scodelario's Unexpected Arrival In “THE MAZE RUNNER”

In the highly anticipated action-adventure “The Maze Runner,” based on the hugely successful book series of the same title by James Dashner,  Kaya Scodelario stars as Teresa in the movie within the midst of teenage boys confined in a place called The Glade where she is the only girl in the mix and where they have no idea who they are except for their names.

Teresa’s arrival into the mysterious Glade takes her fellow teenage captives by surprise: she’s the first girl in their midst. It’s immediately apparent that she has a connection to Dylan O’Brien’s Thomas; a connection that may well explain the Gladers’ confinement.  Teresa came into the Glade just right after the movie’s lead protagonist, Thomas (played by Dylan O’Brien) – among the boys, only both of them have repetitious dreams of a mysterious organization of which only the acronym WCKD flashes within their memories.

REEL DEAL: “THE MAZE RUNNER” Raced To First Place At The Philippine Box Office With 62.4 Million

“The Maze Runner” landed top spot at the Phils. Box-Office with an outstanding P62.4 million on its first five days of release (opened Sept. 17) outrunning all other films that simultaneously opened that week.  The movie clinched its place as the 3rd Biggest Opening Weekend for a Fox film this year (“X-Men: Days of Future Past” being the 1st) and is now the 4th Biggest Opening Weekend for a Fox film all-time (again succeeding “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) so far.

“The Maze Runner” has exceeded expectations and is also currently tracking higher than previously released YA (young adult) blockbusters such “The Hunger Games” and “Divergent.”

REEL DEAL: Will Poulter Rivaks Greenie In “THE MAZE RUNNER”

Will Poulter, best known for his role as Eustace Scrub in “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and has recently played comic scene-stealing moments in “We’re The Millers” stars alongside an atypical group of teens trapped in a virtual prison in “The Maze Runner.”

Based on the (first book) young adult series by James Dashner of the same title, “The Maze Runner” director Wes Ball casts Poulter as Gally, one of the captured Glader group who takes an instant dislike to newcomer Thomas played by Dylan O’Brien.  Thomas wakes up in a lift, moving slowly upward. As the box grinds to a halt and the doors open, he s finds himself among a colony of boys who welcome him to the Glade – a large open expanse surrounded by enormous concrete walls. Thomas’ mind is blank. He has no knowledge of where he is, doesn’t know where he came from, and he can’t remember his parents, his past, or even his own name.

REEL DEAL: Korean Teen Actor Ki Hong Lee Stars As Elite Runner In "THE MAZE RUNNER"

Korean actor Ki Hong Lee has obviously set a firm pace to stardom starring opposite Dylan O'Brien in the upcoming book adaptation of "The Maze Runner."  By the looks of it, the recently concluded Greenies Screening in the Phils. had the girls giggling after the movie, charmed by his notable presence and performance in the movie.

Thomas (O'Brien) wakes up in a lift, moving slowly upward. As the box grinds to a halt and the doors open, he finds himself among a colony of boys who welcome him to the Glade – a large open expanse surrounded by enormous concrete walls. Thomas’ mind is blank. He has no knowledge of where he is, doesn’t know where he came from, and he can’t remember his parents, his past, or even his own name.

Thomas and his fellow “Gladers” don’t know how or why they got to the Glade.  Thomas learns that each resident of the Glade has a role to play, from gardening to construction to being one of the elite runners who map the walls of the Maze that keep them captive and change configurations every night. Maze Runners race the clock to cover as much ground as possible before the end of the day when theMaze locks down and the deadly biomechanical Grievers roam the corridors of the concrete structure.

REEL DEAL: Bruce Willis In Unrelenting Action Film “THE PRINCE”

Bruce Willis  leads a venerable group of veterans and newcomers in “The Prince,” a non-stop action film that forces a retired crime boss back into the seedy underworld he’d left behind. For twenty years Paul Brennan (Patric), a retired New Orleans crime boss, has lived a quiet life off the grid, running an auto repair garage in remote Mississippi. When his teenage daughter Beth goes missing, Paul is forced to return to the city and face his former enemies including  Omar (Willis), the city’s most powerful man whose family he mistakenly took out, in an explosive final standoff that may offer redemption for Paul’s past mistakes.

Prolific producer, Randall Emmett (“2 Guns,” “Escape Plan”) read the script and immediately knew it was a winner in the vein of his previous action packed movies. “Bruce really fell for the material, as well as Jason, and then John came on board and I felt that actors of this caliber would bring something really special to the characters and to the story of a man having to face his old demons when his daughter disappears in the same crime universe that he used to live in.” says Emmett.

As each new bit of information gets Paul closer to Beth, it also exposes him to Omar (Bruce Willis), “a very powerful man in the city of New Orleans who put a price on Paul’s head the day Paul mistakenly killed Omar’s wife and daughter,” explains director Brian Miller. “Like Open Range or Unforgiven, this is a modern day western where this gun slinger’s daughter goes missing in this city where he is a wanted man.”

“Bruce is an old school pro that can just turn on the charm; I would whisper in his ear and wound him up a little bit, and then just let him go,” recalls Miller, of the character that does little to hide his thirst for vengeance. Omar, finely dressed with an air of power about him, tightens his grip on the phone, as a car follows Paul’s Explorer through an industrial part of town. The voice on the other end assures Omar that everyone in the bar knew The Prince the second he walked in the door.
